I am seventy, and remember that the overwhelming majority of people while growing up in California at the time, cared very little, if at all about these men's sexual proclivities. I find it hard to believe the the identity of a gay individual today is still such a struggle that people go to great extremes acting out every year at Pride events. Then again, I also realize that many of these individuals come from other states to California, where I live, in order to live in a tolerant environment. I remember these individuals. I am seventy, and remember that the overwhelming majority of people while growing up in California at the time, cared very little, if at all about these men's sexual proclivities. I find it hard to believe the the identity of a gay individual today is still such a struggle that people go to great extremes acting out every year at Pride events. Then again, I also realize that many of these individuals come from other states to California, where I live, in order to live in a tolerant environment. The Castro neighborhood in San Francisco for example, has always been a place for gay men to go and live in in order to forge and nurture their sexual identity.
