Well, the writers are trying to bring in the lesbian audience. Ok? Was it needed? Makes them look weaker. Jeri Ryan with a sensitive side? She’s x-borg! Sure she’s trying to get in touch with her humanity. After watching her with Riker, now that was writing! This? Idk what this is. A booster for ratings I guess. Trekkers want Star Trek not for it to be like every other show out there. Sad to say Star Trek has lost site of Gene Roddenberry‘s vision. They did the same thing with Star Trek discovery, not even worth watching anymore. If I was Jeri Ryan I’d stick with my base of fans. If they continue this, it’ll go down as the worse mistake the franchise ever made. Watch ther ratings fall!
How does them being in a relationship with each other make them seem weaker? I think it made them stronger. And Seven has been continuing to get in touch with her human side ever since Voyager. We saw in season 2 Raffi helped her with that by reminding her what an extraordinary person she is- both on her human side and her borg side. They made a kickass team last season, too. Seven doesn’t show much emotion in season 3. She seems very two-dimensional. being in a relationship last season brought different aspects of her personality to the surface.
Just so you know, jeri ryan, other voyager actors, and some show leads wanted Seven of Nine to experiment with her sexuality in the later voyager seasons. But the studio wasn't willing to risk it. But writing wise it was stupid to assume a borg trying to find her humanity wouldn't explore her sexuality. And one of the largest ships in the entire star trek Fandom is seven of nine and captain Janeway. So her having multiple lesbian relationships mentioned or acted upon in Picard is just a continuation of original character plans that were put on hold two decades ago. This isn't new, unless you tuned out that part of trek history 🤷♀️ And because of seven, there has always been a huge lesbian audience that is highly engaged in the trek community.
