I commented on Nick’s vlog that the goats looked nervous and I suspected it was Gavin. Now we have confirmation. Keep “droning on” Adam, it is such a cool perspective of the landscape and you’re such a bloody genius with it. I believe you to be reasonable with it’s use in areas that warrant precautions.

Shame that you did not get any "keepers" from this adventure, but the drone footage made up for that. It's true that nobody can ever guarantee perfect shots every time, but always remember, "Nothing ventured, nothing gained". Thank you for the great vlog, as always!

I think that drone footage adds enormously to these little photographic expeditions - I love the aerial perspective. Make the most of the more relaxed rules in the UK because when you return to Canada I hear that it's now not permitted without a licence, but I expect you already know that.

Drones are a great addition to your workflow Adam, It adds that second dimension to your Videos and is well worth the carry. Nice to see your upgrade to a Mavic Pro ll with the Hassy lens. Looking forward to seeing a finished RAW image from that sensor as I'm looking to upgrade as well. To drone or not... now you have the option, YES! Saying that, in unpredictable weather, I'd do my comp. and take my camera shots first, then fly if possible second. Cheers 🍻

For you, the question of “to drone or not to drone” is a tough one because you derive at least a little income from your videos-and drone footage definitely enhances your videos. I always enjoy viewing it. For me, photography always comes first but that doesn’t mean my Mavic 2 Pro comes out of my bag last if I think the best comp is over my head or across a river.

I got my drone (a P4P) essentially for use as a tripod in the sky. I find it's a great landscape camera, allowing viewpoints that are otherwise impossible or too difficult/dangerous/time consuming to reach.
Your video drone work is excellent and inspiring. Every time I watch one of your videos I think "I need to start shooting some video with the air tripod." But I tried doing your backwards flight maneuver through my orchard and scared the crap out of myself, so no. I think I'll just enjoy your expert drone work for now. Thanks for sharing!

I like the drone shots, but please put still photography first. The ground-based angle you found at about 5:00 - with the arch breaking the horizon, the cave in the background and the horizon showing through the opening - would have been stellar had the drone not taken up the good-light time. Anyway, thanks for the intriguing glimpse of Mull, which I hope to visit in July.

Drone footage is a great way to view nature on a screen from the comfort of an urban environment. Out in nature, they are a major pain in the ass for anyone who happens to have them disturbing the peace of an otherwise quiet scene, never mind the invasion of privacy. I would happily forego my enjoyment of drone footage to keep them out of nature.

I suppose shooting with the drone makes a difference at this location. The arches in the context of the landscape and especially the uniqueness of te rock formations stand out and are seen better from the higher viewpoint. You should try some time to go for the Devil's causeway in Northern Ireland - I'd love to see your take on that. Anyway, I was waiting for this video, piecing together your combined experience from the videos so far - the grumpys grump hasn't posted anything yet - and it was a bit like being there myself, thanks for your videos. Awesome place for photos! I would have made a massive stitch of that scene. The sky color tells one quick enough that "P" mode worked. I would have chosen "M" lock the F-stop on 3,5 and chase up the ISO... Even in Jpeg a awesome result... For some reason I do very little RAW shots unless it's client work... Nikon is notorious for over exposure, so my dial stands always on M. Try and get Capture NX2 that is still superior to NX-D. Nice video!

Adam, I am torn both ways on the use of drones. While, I appreciate the cinematic quality of your drone footage, I have been disrupted on several occasions by drones in the area I was shooting. Like everything else, it is probably a few people who fly irresponsibly who make all other drone operators look bad. So I say keep it up and I am looking forward to seeing some of the stills from your drone when you figure it all out. Also was the ad for the DJI Fly Safe program before your vid just a coincidence?

Thanks all that have pointed out the new Canadian rules around drones. Not really sure what all the fuss is about. The rules haven’t changed other than you need to take a test. My advice, take the test and be done with it. The rules are ridiculous and most of it has nothing to do with drone flying but take it anyway.

Love your work. Enjoy the drone footage , but should you ever come to NZ leave the drone behind as you cannot use in any national parks without a applying for a permit and only in some of those you are likely to be approved.

Drone footage adds a great perspective to vlogs. But.. to be honest I decided not to use one, because I just find the presence/noise of a drone so irritating when I'm out enjoying nature in peace. Knowing how I feel, how could I inflict it on someone else? So I decided I couldn't be a hypocrite and use one for my channel.

We didn't steal them a Scotsman came to Canada and named them...ya lets go with that. PS did you and Gavin do your drone licenses yet and did you see if your not a Canadian citizen you can't fly a drone in Canada.

@@QuietLightPhotoso glad to hear you plan to get a license. Your Drone sequences are amazing and add so much to your production value. Another bonus - Saw a post from McKinnon about the law - he, and a lot of other casual drone users will be retiring so the value of a skilled drone photographer in Canada just went up. Based on some of your comments in recent posts, you might want to investigate this as a potential income stream.
