In this tutorial I demonstrate how to purchase a BART Clipper Card, how to add money to an existing Clipper Card, and how to use your Clipper Card to get into the BART Station.

What an antiquated system! The people running BART should get out more and investigate much better systems in Mexico City/Paris/London and just about every major city in the world does it much better

Does that cover roundtrip? It seems expensive if it's just one way
It does cover round-trip. If you look on the price chart it has 2 rows, one with one way trips and the other with round-trip prices :)
Good video, but I dont understand how the system knows where is your destination, to charge you the amount of the travel, or you need to scan the card also when you came to your destination?
Yes you also scan the card when you leave the station as well
it charges you from where you start and your last stop
I travel to SF Giants games from Pleasanton BART. Basically you have to scan your card to get into the place you leave from and your destination also has points where you need to scan your clipper card to get through turnstiles. So basically it just keeps note of the scans.
What is the “e-purse upgrade”? Why did you select that?
Because that is how you add money to an existing card :)
How do tourists get the senior clipper card? It is not available at SFO

How you can use the full amount of the clipper card to get rid of it?
That's a good question. I guess if it's a few odd cents you may not be able to but for the most part you should be able to get most of your money.

Pregunta compre en dos ocasiones una clipper card del mes y en una fue $76.80 con targeta clipper y la otra fue $80 y tantos dólares para el mes y nunca me an pitado en verde cuando las paso por la máquina, una la compre el dos de enero y la otra dos días después el cuatro de enero, mi pregunta es aque se debe eso, le dije al del tren las escanio y las dos pasaron, pero en la maquina siempre las rechasa
Parece que estás teniendo problemas con las transacciones de la tarjeta Clipper. ¿Has contactado al soporte al cliente de Clipper para preguntar sobre el problema? Podrían ofrecer ayuda en relación con el rechazo de tus tarjetas en la máquina.
Mantenme informado sobre tu situación y veré si puedo ayudarte a resolverlo.
Can we use any clipper card like I got it from middle school?
It wouldn't hurt to try! I would imagine it should work. But bring money to buy one in case it doesn't work lol
The reduced fare Clipper card will automatically change to a regular Clipper card once you are not eligible for the reduced fare.
Do you know how to get a day pass with a clipper card for a regular bus
I think you would load a clipper card with money and use it on the bus. I have some links in the description section that go into the fine detail of it all. :)
You have to do that in the app, or at a dedicated MUNI Machine to add a day pass. Day passes are $24! But it includes Cable Car rides.
so bart requires you to pay as you enter and exit, what if you only need a one way, what is the fee for entering and exiting?
You basically pay for the station you want to reach. It electronically measures the amount and the machine takes it when you exit.

@Sean Kobayashi Exactly! Yup. And they have a money chart that says the price for each destination for 1 way and also round trip so you will know how much you need to add to your card.

It is the amount of money that is in your clipper card 😊
Do i need a password? For guetting the clipoer card?
You do not need one :)
If you put a clipper card on your phone with apple/google pay, do you just touch your phone to the same spot as you did with the physical card?
I had recently seen someone do that! Yes you put your phone up to the machine and tap it like the physical card or maybe even just hover it over the card tap section. Great question thanks! Let me know how it goes! :)

Maybe on mobile devices it uses the NFC to connect and to pay.
@@szaki Unfortunately, many of the budget phones do not have NFC. So BART will try very hard to never run out of the plastic clipper cards because about 50% of people rely on these to pay.
Most Android phones has NFC!
NFC has been around some 10 years or so!
You really have to buy a very cheap phone now days without NFC, I think!@@brentsummers7377

I orginaly got that card before I got a youth, then a RTC clipper card! You also do not need to have exact value on your clipper card! As you can use it on any transet in the Bay Area! Unlike the bart card!

@@JesShowTravelMediaJstm also I use my youth card on my watch as a backup card and what I like about it is it has express card automatically set, meaning you do not need to bring up the card!

Always tap on and off otherwise charging you to the end of Caltrain it runs
