    Regarding the how insecure using a normal card is, when ever you pay with your card at a terminal the cashier has the ‘reprint’ option. That gives them your full card number and all they have to do is remember your expiry date to manually charge your card WITHOUT you or the card being present. I work at a front desk of a hotel and we can easily do this if we want. However Apple Pay masks your number and prevents us or our finance department from seeing your card details

    I love using Apple Pay but unfortunately not everyone takes it which is a bummer. I love the fact that I rarely ever have to take my debit card out of my wallet, like this I don’t have to risk losing anything like cash (who ever carries cash nowadays). I just use my Apple Watch or my phone. The only time you will ever find me caring cash is if either I am going to make a deposit in the bank, going to like a sandwich shop that I go to that gives you a discount if you use cash and whenever I travel. Because if the place that I’m going to doesn’t take Apple Pay, and by chance, I lose my credit card or debit card, at least I have some sort of tangible form of payment. Great video!

    The idea of excluding some of the CC credentials in the data transfer is great, even though you can still hack the Apple stream/mechanism or other wallet applications, if you get around or maybe directly in front of the encryption. You would then just be abusing the Apple pay process to your benefit. It stands or falls with how good the security measures of any paying process at the end of day are.

    • @williamhughmurraycissp8405
      @williamhughmurraycissp8405 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not to worry. First, current NFC standards require a distance of no more than 2cm (there is a proposal to increase it to 4cm for improved convenience and speed). In any case, what passes over NFC in contactless payments is secure, not reusable. It is true that NFC is itself not secure but any required security is, as in contactless payments, built into the application.

    Physical card replacement, whilst using your digital replacement, carries one major security risk. If somebody intercepts your mail, that new physical card is active in transit. It has to be active in order for your digital replacement card to work. Whereas before, even if somebody stole that physical card, it would not be active. The credit card companies have not separated the two.

      In the US Express pay only works with cooperating, mostly transit, systems and for small payments. An iPhone with Express Pay enabled and a contactless card work identically. Note that Express Pay is an Apple Wallet, not Apple Pay, feature. The charge goes directly to the default card that you designate for Express Pay, not through Apple. Note that all contactless payments require a careful balance between convenience and security, Most payees get it right, either initially or quickly. Such balance depends in part upon whether or not the transaction is online. The risk is to the payee, not the card holder. In Europe, where many contactless applications are not online, one must enter a PIN for contactless card transactions over a threshold amount.
