That orange WAA12R wad is supposed to be for tapered hulls and might not seal up properly in that straight hull. Also, cut the petals off the wad and it will stack 3 X 3 perfectly like 00 Buck is supposed to. I picked up a couple of jugs of ClayDot for a low price and wonder if he ever tried that powder. I think it must be new because I have not seen any loads in the books using that powder.
Love the channel. You have helped us so much. Thanks to you we now have the best shooting gun/buckshot combos we have ever had and we been going this over 50 years.
OK after watching you for a month, I finally got my Lee lead pot, my Marty #00 Buck mould, had the powder and primers already. I loaded that 32 gr. #00 buck load I watched you making years ago. I'll be trying them out this weekend. With the wads I had they only fit 8 pellets, but I'm fine with that. I'll give you the results next week.
Great stuff BRO, we down here in New Zealand don't know too much about Buckshot loading and I have been a reloading for over 65 years. Just started loading Buckshot and you are my Mentor. Most of my loads are used on Red Dear and Canada Geese. Both game are an official Pest in New Zealand and so the season is 365 days a year and NO licenses and shoot as many as you can. Yes a virtual heavenly paradise. .So as you can guess Buck shot is my choice of a great round especially on the Canada Honkers my special load is 12 #00 Buck using 26 grains HS 800X. Problem in New Zealand is so limited components. Hope to talk to Ballistic Products about being an importer. So BRO keep on keeping on. Promise to become a Patriot when I get to know that's done. GOD Bless you - Amen.
Thanks again Wade for the PMs to help me put together buckshot loads! I really wanted to assemble 9 pellet #00 in 2 3/4 hulls mainly as self defense loads. Do you still recommend the CB1138-12 for that? I have ordered CB2118-12 from BP, but are on back order right now.
Surprised you did not make your own ? Well I finally put a longer handle on the Marty’s mold . After burning the hell out of my hand. Marty molds should definitely have a longer handle for sure . It could have been worse if I did not have my welding gloves on .
"Plz don't consider this load data" followed by very detailed load data or what would be instructions. I got no complaints and because of you I know I need to drop %05. off my top if i am using a magnum primer. Also remember how you said it's cuz the difference in cost for the slow clean vs the hot nasty . I am just getting started on the hand loading and am curious what press and other equipment do you recommend if I want to run: #4buck,00,7/8 or 1oz foster. I am capable and willing to cast my own. I just need a good idea of what I would need bare minimum without compromising quality. Thank you for your videos and schooling the craft.
There are a few presses that will work great loading buckshot; The old MEC 600 jr, 650, Mark-V, or the Size-master all work very well for multi-purpose loading! Wade
Wade, thanks for another great video. You can't beat a BRO reloading video on a Sunday morning. Any idea what the lead payload weight was? I'm getting in some #0 nickel plated and already have the claybuster wad on hand.
Just curious if you were starting from scratch with all new components, would you roll crimp or star crimp? Once again thanks Wade for the detailed videos. Great information
Joseph mccormick... When using all new components, I agree with Wade & Ro boat. If you reload once fired hulls that have been star/fold crimped, it is possible and easy to re-crimp them without a press.
Hey I want to test this theory out but I don’t have the material to do so. I was wondering if you can give it a shot. I, like a lot of hunters or people out there who wants to extend the range of their buckshots. The flight control wads are great but you can’t buy them. So my theory is that if you shoot an “unslit” wad through a rifled barrel would it keep the patter a lot tighter?? The spin will keep the wad stable and the will make the pellets push again the inner wall of the shot cup. Which the shot cup will stay with the pellets for longer period of time resulting in a tighter pattern in longer distance.
Cool vid, with this load you don't use the gas seal and the cork wad, why did you go with this type of wad here? Could you use a seal and cork wad here too?
Is it possible to use 700x with this load thank you in advance also I only have access to 2 3/4 shells same brands fiochhi and I have fed 209a primers as well as fiocchi 616 primers and Winchester super x compression hulls again thank you in advance

Hey wade, I was able to find 3 inch Fiocchi shells. But was only able to find cc1138-12 wads. Could I load 15 pellets in the fiocchi shells with long shot? If so how many grains?
it depends on your #00 shot size. if your pellets are closer to .32 cal then you can stack by 3's and get 15 pellets in your round. and I use 28.5 grains.
Hello sir, i have a question for you as a professional re-loader: If cut open factory load 12 gauge shell and replace the lead pellets ( 00 buckshot) with steel, and of course seal it back- your thoughts, I'm just thinking to go easy way..., Or should I replace powder too??
It would work! But, your payload weight is going to drop a bit so the round may not cycle in an auto-loader. You wouldn't notice so much in a pump or break-open shotgun.
