Made up some .33 cal #00 in 3" with the MG42 wad... 28.5 grains Longshot. He wanted something heavy for coyotes. Was very impressed with the results. Made me look good! 😆... Thanks for all the leg work.
Glad Miss Joann is doing better! ;-) Excellent information.. I shoot 2 3/4 almost exclusively, from round ball, slugs, buckshot, buck & ball, to birdshot. Thanks for the video...
Thank you so much for your videos. I never loaded buck. Still converting feild to #3 splitshot 9 pellet and learning from that. Only buckshot I've fired is factory 00 buck S&B clear hull. Seems they used thick waxed hard cards instead of hulls. I really appreciate your tutorials. I have learned a lot.
Prayers answered! Hallelujah! Loved the massager/vibration i went looking for one. Found instead a battery powered toothbrush instead. Tried it. Works like a champ. Thanks for the idea.
In this video you used 28gr of long shot and 16 pellets of 30cal. My 30 cal pellets measure out at .304. I tried 27gr of long shot with 16 pellets of my 30 cal pellets and could just barely get a roll crimp using new ched 2 3/4" shells with the mg42 wad. I would think with 28gr of long shot I would not be able to get a roll crimp at all. After loading 3, I reduced to 14 pellets to get a better roll crimp. Am I doing something wrong? I love your videos and really appreciate all you do for us shotgun loaders out here.
I just made it out yesterday to pattern #4 buck + cheddite/mg42 wads loaded over Longshot. Thank you so much Wade, I was surprised how much better than factory they were. I always looked forward to your videos and I’m glad to hear the Mrs. is back home.
Love these 2.75 load videos like a kid in a candy store! In the last load, you said we can go lighter with 32 or 33 of Blue Dot and 10 pellets versus the 27 of Longshot and 12 pellets of .32cal. By lighter, do you mean less fps and recoil?
Do you have any load data for a 2 3/4” 12 gauge hull with fiber wads? I have an old JC Higgins model 20 which has a choke tube that is divorced from the barrel, and screws into a vented collar- some say plastic wads get stuck around the choke because they expand when the leave the barrel, and go around the choke, Looking for like a 1200 FPS 1 1/8 oz 7.5 shot load, and I have all kinds of hills both straight wall and taper wall. I’ve read you can use a nitro card on top of the powder, then one or two fiber wads to get stack height, then the shot and either roll crimp or fold crimp. Any thoughts?
Always enjoy and learn so much from your videos. Can the loads you just made be star crimped or is it better to roll crimp. Keeping you and family in our prayers.
I’m just getting back into this but don’t have a roll crimper. How do you suggest I adjust it so I can use my keepers to start crimp? Thank you for your videos sir.
Would appreciate greatly a video on loading the guilandi skeet wads (super g 27) with a .690 pumpkin ball. They should all fit perfectly in a 2.75 and with a weigh of around 1- 1 1/88oz could be a great slug load
I've loaded hundreds of the .690 round balls made with Pure lead, and there is a reason for that over Longshot powder and a Ballistic Products (Brush Wad), a double ended wad that actually centers the round ball in the load very well. With a clear overshot wad and a roll crimp makes one accurate and effective slug load. Why pure lead? Dig one up sometime and you'll see that they obturate to fill the bore and you can actually see it on the lead ball. Same idea as using an oversized ball in a cap and ball revolver. Accuracy is much better than if you use an undersized ball that doesn't seal to the barrel that is too hard to obturate.
Thanks for the info... I wonder if with all the consumables is this alot more expensive than just buying hunting rounds for the shotgun.. so is this just like when we reload for our long range rifle rounds and we are looking to make a better round.?
there are so many variables, but the biggest issue here in the south is that we can't find/get the buckshot hunting ammo! it seems to always be gone around here or you're paying $5 a round for ammo that used to be $5 buck for 5 rounds! The biggest advantage in hand loading is that we can put together way better ammo that you can buy! just like you mentioned about the high quality rifle rounds!!
the 10 pellet .33 cal #00 is 1.25 oz. The 14 pellet .31 cal weigh 1.4 oz. The 16 pellet .30 cal weigh 1.45 oz. and the 18 pellet .29 cal weigh 1.5 ozs.
What is the best book to get for some of the loads that you make I can't find out what wad Whatever shot card to use with each application I'm struggling
Glad the little woman is doing better. Your health is only second to your salvation! About the loads, these are looking like 1.75 oz payloads. Are they ok to shoot out of a non-magnum gun? I think someone even mentioned that the look magnum ish. Is 28 gn LS the saving factor?
@@BubbaRountreeOutdoors thank you Sir, glad to hear that Mrs. Joanne is on the mend. We sincerely appreciate everything you and your crew do, just make sure y'all take care of yourselves first, because y'all are more important than anything. Keep up the good work and we'll be praying for y'all.
@@BubbaRountreeOutdoors anytime Sir! FYI, I was sitting here messing with wads for thunder chicken loads, and just discovered that the BP TPS 58mm unslit cushion wads just barely fit full grown powder coated 0.330" by 2's without forcing them, and before the wad is slit. Gentle taping settles them in place solidly, and 14 pellets fill the wad. This is the first true full length wad that I've found that will fit full grown 0.330". I'll definitely be experimenting with these when I get my turkey loads sorted out.
Why do you only use 27 gr of Longshot with the 12 pellet .32 cal load when the total shot weight is less than the 16 pellets of .30? Just wondering if it is because it wont fit in the shell or what cause I'm thinking about cooking some of these up. Thx
hey Price! These combos are my best performers. There are many other powder charges that also work well. I am on the low side of possible powder charge weights. Powder is so hard to find.
Definitely an artist creating a masterpiece

I use that wad in STS hulls for steel BB, mica wad slick is nearly a must but they do work well.

Wade, you and the boys ought to do some Varmint hunts. Coyote & fox, even raccoon. Glad to hear that Miss Joanne is home!
We're checking with some local farms now!
Wade instead of roll crimping can you fold crimping it
Yes you can. If you have a hull already shot. Loadit up and see where it comes to. Should be just below crimp. I also would use overshot card.

Can I ask you what wade you would us to make 12ga 23/4 inc 11/2 lead shot Longshot power with 26grains ??
yessir! that works great.
What does it say on Marty’s arms for 31 cal ?
First of all, I am glad to hear your wife is back home. Second, I may have missed it, but what does the payload weight work out to?
the 10 pellet .33 cal #00 is 1.25 oz. The 14 pellet .31 cal weigh 1.4 oz. The 16 pellet .30 cal weigh 1.45 oz. and the 18 pellet .29 cal weigh 1.5 ozs.
If will that wide work on once fired shells
Yessir!
does 00 shot in this work well/shoot well with this loadout? Same grain of powder? hard to find "0" shot right now
yes it will! up to .33 cal will work.
Can you buy 31 caliber and 30 cow buckshot or do you have to make it
Ballistic products sells those sizes in several flavors(plated, BAM line, regular lead, ect...)
What is the best book to get for some of the loads that you make I can't find out what wad Whatever shot card to use with each application I'm struggling

Payload weight will be closer to 1.5 to 1.6. Should work fine out of the 2.75" shotguns.
Other than the MG42, Super Mini green, and CB1138, has anyone found any other wads that fit true 0.330" or larger?
Not really... other than the older AA wads.
