I can't forget embarrassing moments in public, but the other people who were there to witness have long forgotten.
Well, it's obviously phrased very bluntly for comedic effect. The version I prefer and find more accurate is: "People are too busy worrying about how they appear to others to pay much attention to people around them".
Regardless of phrasing, I for one have found the thought extremely liberating. As a highly self-analyzing/self-monitoring person, I can't avoid but being keenly aware of myself and every thing I'm doing. Knowing that people don't actually notice the little details I previously thought they did, I have found myself being able to actually pay more attention to other people and be more confident and outgoing in general.
Pretty sure critical thinking is just what everyone who agrees with me does.

Yep, it's why multi-billion dollar companies spend millions upon millions of dollars to get that golden ballpark frank "Certified" so that when you get all wrapped up doing your critical thinking elsewhere and neglect to peruse line 11 of section C, that would have only taken all but a few minutes to do so, you get the opportunity to find out "Precisely".. how that golden ballpark operates.
You'll wish you had taken those few minutes getting into the Kevlar trousers, that they "themselves" had just handed to you by the way, when they get "finished" with you.
They don't call them "Big Business".. for nothing. "Success".. leaves a trail. So you may want to go critically think about that... not trying to be an @sshole.. just saying.
And you better believe, that as the world progressively moves forward into this microdized future, they are going to be packing a whole lot more devil, into those shrinking details.

Yo, ACTUALLY THOUGH, it is BEYOND ME how people can have conversations without monologuing how the conversation is supposed to go in your head 3 or 4 times beforehand.
I guess it just comes to you after fucking it up a couple times. Some just had more experience.

This video actually has incredibly good advice. It’s if you want to be the most successful person you can possibly be (however you want to define that), you should engage in critical thinking often and seriously take time to think through your life and reflect on it. I think that being a truly competent critical thinker is partly dependent on your ability to avoid cognitive biases, such as information bias, and on your ability to avoid logical fallacies, such as assuming that correlation indicates causation when it actually does not. This is a deep video and I would argue one of Casually Explained’s best.

The deviating from the script thing reached me on a spiritual level, I'll straight-up stall in real life when people do things I haven't carefully planned for and then expect me to react in the moment.

Depends. The way I see it, everyone else under-thinks. I think there's a 4th level of sentience, where you critically think, but for multiple related topics, instead of just the topic, itself. And you don't just deal with the multiple synergistic layers, but you properly prioritize them, too, like layers in Photoshop.
Anyway, you want to always be thinking at maximum capacity (because it makes you smarter), but you also don't want to ONLY ever only be thinking. You also want to be doing things with your life, not just jerking off your ego with how smart you are.

That bonus level of thinking is like my normal way of thinking and at stressful situations I ascend to a new level of overthinking.

Honestly that is a really comforting thought that everyone should remember. Nobody is going home thinking about what some kid wore to school that day or whatever you're worried about in the moment. Do what makes you happy/comfortable, because at the end of the day, you're the only one that cares.

Honestly reading and hearing people say that “nobody thinks about you” kinda helped my anxiety calm down but yeah the delivery of it matters

"Emotion to action" That is literally where we are with many people today. They feel therefore they do. And when they're criticized for those actions they simply become more irrational. Identify those people around you and AVOID THEM.
It's true, a comment on the nature of many individuals can trigger an action based on the comment. An observation might elicit an action that can be misconstrued as an emotional action when in fact it is based on sound facts.

Damn... 1:51 was my entire existence at uni and people HATED me for it. I picked a subject I enjoyed and worked hard to do well and people really don’t grasp the concepts of A. Minding their own business and B. Working harder themselves to do better. Everything has to be a judgemental comparison.
