So it's fairly safe to say that in 2021, it's very hard to choose a "bad" salt mix. All of these are excellent and will do the job just fine. I personally use Red Sea CP and blue bucket. Reef Crystals has been around for over 20 years and is still an excellent salt as well.
In your previous tests, the tanks were not cover. But this time they are. It could be the bigger reason than then temperature and circulation. 2 weeks of contact time with CO2 can switch alkalinity by a lot. You should test on that perspective, unsealed container vs open container.
I can only speak because my experience and education in Culinary. Solids dissolve faster and more efficiently in heated liquid. Common chemistry actually... Try making iced tea. Cool the tea then try to add sugar. Sugar will only partially dissolve and at that not much. You will be left with solids. Try adding sugar when hot/warm. The sugar will completely dissolve. Actually warmer the liquid the more saturated with the dissolved solid your adding before precipitation occurs. Do it with table, kosher or even Epsom salt. In cold, warm and then hot water. Higher the temp the higher the concentrate can be achieved. We also see this in some of our reefing products like two part ESV B-Ionic. Don't know why this wouldn't pertain to our tank's salt.

To keep things simple, my maintenance habit has always been to mix up next week's salt water at the end of this week's maintenance. Drop a powerhead (on a timer) and a heater in there and close the lid. Thankfully I have the space to do so. I have two containers that each hold about a week's worth of auto-water-change (AWC) water. Each week I swap the AWC intake over to the tank I mixed up last week. Alternating between the two each week. For the times I need to go out of town for over a week, I can set them in parallel to use both tanks. I'd happily have larger ones that hold a month or more, but it is a compromise on space constraints. I'd ideally like them to be sized around one box/bucket of salt so that stratification of materials in the dry salt mix isn't a concern. (Ah dreaming about our ideal fish room, eh?)

I wonder if doing this test in glass which is relatively smooth even on the molecular level where as plastic bins definitely have a rougher texture has any effect on the precipitation.
Salts will precipitate out if left uncirculated and unheated. The nature of basic chemistry. More chance for key elements to come together and bind to each other if not in constant motion. Too hot or too cold enhances chemical reactions. Using a heater saves time and costs pennies and you’ll always have prepared and near tank temp ready salt. Which is always a good idea.
Thank you for putting this test out there, finding it to be very helpful in picking my AWC salt, most interesred at this point what happens when the pump is shut off... could be reassuring to know I don't have to worry about a pump running dry as the bin is used. (hopefully that's the result anyway)
I know that this is a bit different but in my salt bucket I notice that the Red Sea coral pro salt clumps up. Considering its by a window it gets pretty cold and the salt gets clumpy and I hv to break it up. I wonder if this relates to what we r talking about?
Hm. This is certainly surprising. So what is all the junk that collects on the bottom... Sounds like next video should be about collecting it and sending it to a lab for analysis :) I wish you guys also kept track of ph throughout all those tests

Aren't you afraid of bacterial activity developing and depleting some of the nutrient's available in the salt mixture? or do the salt mixtures not contain any organics?
I mix my salt way over on purpose so when i need some i just add a couple cups to a gallon and let the rest of the 5 gallon bucket with a sponge filter with out the sponge. Is there a problem with this?
If you mix to a high salinity, just keep an eye out for precipitation. It's probably worth testing your freshly mixed saltwater for calcium and alkalinity to make sure as well.
It's crazy because in theorie we are always mixing and heating salt water. And we actually watch it every day..we don't keep corals we keep water that coincidentally supports corals..
On their brs live they said it would seem a very long time, more so (is the logic) if it's a synthetic salt since there's less concern for organics in it.
I left saltwater mixed with 0tds rodi water. At 1.025 salinty (instant ocean reef crystals) and after 1 week of just a circulation pump i had brown algae grow in the bucket. Keep in mind my mixing bucket is outsidr in a 40gal brute trash can. Amd it was during our 110⁰ f heat wave weather

If you are running a basic FOWLR and no coral - it doesn’t matter and you can use the least expensive non-reef salt.

Perhaps the plastic bin react to the salt hence having some precipitant compared to a glass tank?
What about reverse osmosis water? Are there any negative effects if you have a container that holds up to a week of top off water?

Mix 48 hrs without heat , then turn off pump , then store & check . I don't think heating is nessasary ?
