This performance last August was my first introduction to Band-Maid. If been down the pigeon hole ever since.
They are soooo good
It's still "Lollapaloser" - except for when Band-Maid came on!! I went there for one band - the maids. The rest were DJ's and hip hop that I wasn't into. But my buddy and I are there in that crowd, and I saw the maids at the midnight show the night before. All of this happened on my birthday, and 4 days before I retired. Best week of my life. Probably.

As a musician, I can’t think of any other song more appropriate to recommend to you, or anyone who has a professional ear for music.

Lollapalooza is held in Chicago’s Grant Park, in the shore of Lake Michigan. Those buildings are the skyline behind Michigan Avenue. I was able to boot my computer just in time to catch the original live stream. They took the stage at 1:00 PM local time, as most attendees were still arriving, and they played a proper 45 minute set. They MAIDIACS, however, were waiting at the front if the stage. I hope someday they will return for a proper evening slot, even though there seems to be Little Rock on the bill at Lollapalooza these days.

It was hot as hell and they held on like the pros they are. They always give their all .

This set is what I call a game changer for the maids. The Chicago Sun News in a review stated the maids were the best band of this Friday line up. the review stated that
these 5 little Japanese girls kicked every other groups ass. stating they should have been the headliners.

I think the reason we love Hate so much is because the Maids have so much fun playing it. They get to go wild. Especially Saiki, since she wrote the lyrics. And Dice is just quintessential, hard rock Band-Maid at its finest. Thx, Amiekinz! BTW - Have you seen the Yokohama version of Hate with English CC lyrics?

Thanks for the reaction and comments. The whole set was an hour long and absolutely amazing. And this was after having performed a full set less than 12 hrs the previous evening. When considering the heat they had to endure while playing, the joy and energy they brought on stage that day is a real testament to their dedication and love for their audience.

Here is another of the three pillars of Japan's powerful rock bands. Lovebites, Band Maid and Nemophila. More talent in them than in all other Western rock combined.
These girls are incredible, their rhythms changing every now and then, their duels destroying everything around them, their double voices, the crazy and charming drums...
...I want more of them!!
By the way, what a good vibe there is between all the groups, who go to see each other perform, there are no phobias or envies.

They are so talented & engaging. The entire Japanese metal/rock scene is incredible Honestly the western world has their collective heads in the sand musically. Saiki's "condition" I belive is called Yaeba, which the Japanese view as a sign of youthfulness and beauty. Suzuka (Su-Metal) Nakamoto from Babymetal has them as well and I'm sure there are others as well.

They performed one hour in the heat. The stage was too hot, MISA had to wear her shoes in the middle of their show, and Saiki collapsed right after the show due to heatstroke.
Yeah, I've played shows in the heat like that, they are fun but extremely exhausting
Chicagp. The pre-performance interview with one of the Hulu presentors was pretty interested. You could tell how honored and excited the Maids were to be there. How professional were they? They performed their set early in the afternoon in August. It was over 100 degrees on the stage, yet the Maids performed with their high energy and joy. Wow!!!!!

Location: Chicago. It had been 13 years since a Japanese band had appeared at Lollapalooza. BAND-MAID performed for one hour. SAIKI, the vocalist, went backstage after the performance and collapsed from heat stroke. It seemed to be very hot on stage. Thank you for reacting to BAND-MAID. By the way, your dog is so cute.🥰

This was a fantastic set. The sound, though not up to the highest standards was much better than fan cams. The video director however didn't know just what shot to use and so focused often in the wrong area. However we did get shots from behind and views of Akane that we don't see much of in the pro-shot concert footage.
Until the YT release of the Yokohama concert version of HATE? this was the best video of that version of the song. They performed it for the first time at the previous night's aftershow concert so this was the 2nd time they had done the extended version of HATE? live.
The audio quality may not be the best, but you can hear it pretty well and it's sounds great

There are lots of cell phone videos from the US Tours 2022 and 2023 on youtube and in everyone of these our maids are rocking the house and having a blast!

The genesis of Lollapalooza were of a festival for alternative bands and it used to be different places multiple times per year I believe. Metallica caused a sensation when they appeared on the bill. 😂 There will be a documentary on Paramount+ soon! And HANABIE. is on the bill for 2024.
