Blueprinting does actually help. Yes the items will place down as they were just before the merge. But, let's say something took a really long time to get lined up before the merge, the blueprint saves you atleast that lining up time, so all you have to do is merge it again.
Sometimes and others the blueprint wont place because "Items are floating" The blueprint system is so broken I just stopped using it other than for some tools. I just wish they would give us shelter build rules in the real world without custom worlds.
@@rotomon I haven't had that floatimg one yet, probably because I haven't tried one with a lot of items yet, but good to know. But, while we're on the subject of broken things, wanna know my favorite? I'll tell you, its when the outline turns blue, but the game still says "no." I can't even count how many times I've yelled at my tv, "Then why the f@%k did you turn blue?"
I'm not sure what you mean. You should be always be grabbing the lowest thing or the primary part grab and drop the item above should drop into the item you are placing into the ground. It will show you grabbing the entire stack when you grab the item. If you are targeting the upper item it will leave the one on the ground and it will want to reset. Yep, Just takes finding the right spot in your camp to make it work. If you want to test it go to the racetrack workshop and test in the far north resource pit. having a spot in your camp is one of the main reasons I almost always build in the same location.
The crafting stove will merge into just about anything. In my Modern Lakehouse I have it merged with the appliance stove. Most of the time I just merge it with the Fancy Bar.
No it works fine on console as well as pc. The biggest thing is finding a spot in your camp to make it work. I've found a lot of places where there was just not a spot to do it. If you want to test it to be sure, go to the racetrack workshop and on the north end of it is a node to put a refiner near that is a spot where you can use to test merging items. The primary thing you want to look for in your camp is a place where an item drops into the ground.
Still works just fine. Terrain can be tricky, The Pressure plate option works anywhere. If it works on one platform it works on the rest same engine. To test terrain you can go to the racetrack and try it in one of the collection nodes. Pressure plate requires power if it doesnt work store the plate and place it down again and then connect it to power.
Nope. The trick is not moving it closer. You need to find a place in your camp (not every location has a place) where the item drops into the ground. When you have two things stacked and you find a spot that drops into the ground then you would pick the main item up and place it on the ground and then pick it up and place it again. When you pick up the item you should see the items drop into the ground slightly and you know you are in the right spot. Its a little tricky. To test it Go to the racetrack and on the northern most end? theres a spot where there is a resource node inside the track (not junk node) and you will find a spot that items drop about 1/4 way into the ground and you can test it and see how it works. If you just cant figure it out catch me on stream and I can show you live. twitch.tv/rotomon 9pm central every night.
Good to see people using this method finally. People were making videos on the conduit method wich is terrible.
Conduits are only good for electrical, random decorations and making makeshift railings :P Using them to merge or place items is a pain.

@@mmadd7 I know that one so well. Yeah man
Nice video, thanks will be trying the cooker merge.
Nice!
Thank you so much for the tutorial, I really didn't know that! Love it thank you so so much!
Yeah, I rarely build a camp anymore without merging something. Thanks!
I’m going to keep practicing this but not getting the hang yet, once I move the shelving unit the thing on top always gets highlighted too.

I love this technique.
Thanks!
This isn’t related to the purpose of the video but where did you get that table in the upstairs lounge with the TV merged inside of it?

Is this patched? When I try the items move closer to me with out merging... any advice?

@@rotomon what should I look for with one of these spot when if I move? Is there a way to tell if a place has such a spit aside from a resource node?
