The Aldwych branch 72 Mk1 Tube Stock returns to the branch and is shown reversing off the eastbound Piccadilly line through the step plate junction and onto platform 5 at Holborn
Most of the mk1s got the chop from the Northern Line back in the late 1990s. This is a few of the lucky ones still running around for filming and training purposes. It came back from Northfields annual maintaince but during the night as it can't move to and from Aldwych during normal service hours as that will cause disruption to the Piccadilly line. A small number of other mk1s are on the Bakerloo Line converted to driver only operation and refurbished, although most are mk2s as half units
Is the unit still about? I still need to get around to finding it before it goes, as soon as they start rebuilding Holborn, it'll probably be sent for scrap.
So if it reversed off the eastbound Piccadilly line, does that mean the train could have been taken off the branch line onto the main Picc line? If that was the case then I'm surprised it wasn't used when Aldwych as an operational station
That Short clip has a "ghostly type" feel. Well Done
The 72' stock sparking looks terrifying

It lives permanently on the Aldwych branch except when it leaves for maintenance.
Why would it need maintenance if it sits there.
@@tomv3361 It doesn't just sit there, it's powered up regularly, and it runs as required for training and filming purposes.
Well, it USED to live on the Aldwych branch, but it's now scrapped.

it has now had its components removed and scrapped.
What just happened????
So the left is old platform 5 and the right is platform 4 ?
Can't remember the platform numbers but right is the eastbound Picc main and left is the Aldwych branch.
