Hey Uber Man. Your vids have been very helpful. I've watched a bunch today. I just got started 2 days ago. What happens if your phone dies (obv. not gonna happen if plugged in), app crashes, lose signal, whatever. You can't actually call Uber. Would you just keep track manually and contact them later. I'm guessing they could track through your rider (maybe??). -Thanks!

Hello Uber Man! I am, I guess, what you would call a seasoned driver. I have been driving now for 7 months and just recently went full time. I just want to thank you for this video... even though I have figured out most of this info through hard knocks (lol) I was still able to garner quite a bit of info from this! Hey so I saw that you're in OKC and I am too. I'm just getting started up and will hopefully do my first trips this weekend but I've been looking around on the Internet that it looks like Uber drivers in OKC have to have their cars inspected and go through a background test or they risk getting tickets and having their cars impounded. Do you have any info on any of this? Thanks and great video BTW.
Lance Goodwin That was a long time ago. Our police chief refused to enforce the law. Then Governor Mary Fallen passed legislation giving us the green light, with no checks, no inspections, etc.

Hi um, i just signed up fir uber a week ago and got activated yesterday. I was a little surprised as my 2004 ford car got passed, as i believe it has to b under 10 years. However the inspection failed and i had to spend around 800$ to get get inspection passed. I have two questions.
1) I got activated and was able to accept rides without uploading the inspection form, that means i probably never should upload it, since i got avtivated and my car got accepted overall?
2) I got the inspection passed yet still my car has visible dents and general wear and tear overall both from inside and outside, also engine make noise when accelerating. Is this gonna effect my rating anway?
3) if uber is easy to pass and make money, why isnt everyone doing it?

I went out today (airport) and I had (2) cancellations before I even got to the pick-up gate. I finally got a rider (a pilot) who lived several blocks from the airport. I went out and picked him up at home and brought him back to the airport. YES, I was nervous, but he was very nice which made it so much easier. I forgot to hit the "pick-up button" and "drop- off" but lucky the system picked it up. Thanks again.
Thanks for the video!!! Especially the suggestion for using the uber rider app to find where to drive. I had been driving almost 50 miles to find fares and while watching this video I found that 10 minutes from me there's a pretty successful area!

It's now Saturday night and I was so nervous about starting it all up I just have not signed on. It's 4th of July weekend and I live at the Jersey Shore I'm sure I missed out on some $. Well Uber Man I got the nerve up and went out on Sunday to drive for 4th of July weekend. I was very happy and did what I thought was good. I drove 6 hours and had 8 fairs. I could have done more but I got so far north from my home I didn't except like 6 of the fairs. Thanks again for your video.

oh lovely I made a good chunk of pay. the tampa market isnt exactly... booming... yesterday was a bust (been with uber for 2-3 months now) but thats the first day that was ever this bad in terms of rider frequency.

Hi UM...any Vids out there for this Rookie..in regards to riders wanting to change destination in middle of ride...or multi stops.

I don't think there are. But, I'll do my best to help. If they want to change their trip, just use Google Maps, and enter a new destination. With multiple stops, take the first to the destination entered, then when you get there, input the next stop in to the GPS / Google Maps / Waze.

Thank you for all of your vids! I don't plan to rent the phone from Uber as well and just plan to use my Note 3. My question is can Uber continue to run in the background normally while using Google Maps for navigating. I ask this because Google Maps is constantly updating especially regarding traffic and/or road construction.

this was a great video introduction thank you so much for the information As I am a first time driver that will be starting for the first time on Friday. the only thing that you got me thinking about now that i wouldn't even drive is the rating for the drivers. I mean if your not rated high enough how long normally will it take for Uber to drop you. it's not like I'm worried about it I have a full time job plus a part time job so this will be a part part time job lol

2) Inform the rider (in a very subtle way) of the importance of a 5
star rating for drivers.
3) Last but certainly not least, my nervousness about jumping out there

Uber man does it take a long time to get a mentor session confirmation w/LYFT?
I filled out the application back on 9/1, then I was asked to schedule my mentor session back on 9/4 & have had to reschedule it every week since then because I never get a confirmation from a mentor..I'm thinking is there a possibility that the mentor knows where I live and may live in my area as well and wants to prevent me from getting the job??What else can I do?

Can you use your cars GPS if you need to or do you have to purchase a stand alone?
You can use whatever you want. Uber uses the GPS (Waze or GoogleMaps) already. So you shouldn't need one at all.

I'm now living on a pension and had been thinking about doing Uber.
Question: I was thinking of getting a Lincoln Navigator. One person said that the gas would not make it worth it but another said I would get paid higher rates to compensate. What are your thoughts on that?
55Herbie1 I'd research the market your in first. Love the navigator, but that thing is a gas HOG. Do you have UberSelect in your market? If so, does the year navigator you are looking at qualify? Make sure they are accepting new Select in your market as well. IF you qualify for select, yes, go for it! Otherwise I recommend a XL that gets "decent" MPGs, or stick with a cheaper car on UberX
Yes, it does consume a lot of gas but the roominess is wonderful. But not sure if the money spent for gas would compensate.
I haven't signed up yet because one will say it's worth it but another will say differently.
That's why I'm now searching the internet to get as much information as possible.

Hi I have a few quick questions, my first was: I been very interested in using Uber from both a passenger and a driver to be able to get familiarized on the full Uber experience and so Installed Uber not the Uber partners app because I wanted to use it as a passenger, so I installed it but going threw the app and also the webpage site ...it does not elaborate on anything I would fear as in why is it asking for my credit card and am i going to be charged and all that just to register? so i have not register to it due to the fact I do not want to be charged for just installing and registering the app so will i be charged at anytime for it just to check it out?. My second question is as far as being a driver for Uber...can you setup your own distances you are willing to drive? like possible just local city or miles distance preferred to travel too? oh and whats the main customer service email for Uber in-case I have a few other questions? thank you great video by the way.
dreamkiss4u You have to link a CC, Debit card, Google Wallet, or PayPal. That is how you pay for rides. Not to worry, you won't be charged unless you take a ride as a passenger. Sadly, you can't set distances. :( The main Uber email is partners@uber.com

If you are logged on as a driver and go on the rider app, will your car come up on the map? I am a new driver myself. I am currently online as a driver but when I bring up the rider app, my car is not there and it says approximate pick up time is 15+ minutes when I could be there in under 5.

You get them from the local Uber office. It's called a Greenlight Hub.

If they had, I would driving right now, instead of looking for more info. Anyone that joins thru me will be sent to your website first. You should also show how to switch between apps. I'm a newbie to 4G and with a new phone. My Lyft driver taught me how. Thank God! If you don't have another gps you need to know how to get back and forth from apps to google and back without leaving the Uber or Lyft app. especially if they only tell you a street and place name. I'm a new UBER....as of TODAY....thanks for the info :-) You mentioned taking photo's of your car...UBER never asked me to take pictures of my car....sent them picture of my commercial license...insurance...registration...and vehicle inspection..and that was it...got activated in 7 days.

Hey Uber Man, I got my first drive last night... the people were drinking prior to the ride.... 100+ proof! I freaked a out a bit and we I got the call. I was actually going home, then they canceled and then they called again ... less than 45 seconds. I got them to the destination... not perfect, but I forgot to turn on the mileage meter thing... Dang... first time stuff, dang again. I am going for my second drive today. GIRL POWER!

I'm curious about the car age restriction. Say you're in a market that requires a 10 year old or newer car. If I'm driving a 2006 car and 2017 rolls around, can I keep driving that car for Uber or does it have to be re-checked or something?

New Driver here, can you tell me what is eating up my data. I installed stride and several other apps to enhance my uber. Should I just have wifi going and not blue tooth. Turned off all the data on the apps I installed thinking that may be it. Like pulse, mileiq, sherpashare and sygic gas buddy, flightstats,

Hi there, my husband signed in to deliver food for Ubereats but here's the situation regarding which we're a little concerned. He received a text from Uber asking him to complete activation and the link that it provided leads to his profile. The only information he did not fill out yet is his bank information. Now he is a little apprehensive to do so before he receives a for sure answer from Uber that he has been selected as a driver. Will the confirmation come after he fills in his bank information? Or should it be the other way round i.e. he fills in the bank details only after he receives a confirmation that he has indeed been selected as a delivery driver for Ubereats?

So far so good. I'm just doing it between school and work and so far I've gotten steady rides and all of the passengers have been friendly.
I have a question about surges, which I haven't been able to figure out. I went out driving in Seattle area last night and accepted several rides smack in the middle of surge areas, but I only was paid extra on one of them, which had been red, and I only got 1.25x on that one. I'm new, so what do I need to know?
+Melody Kriesel I'm not really sure. When the app "pings" you will see a lightning bolt with the surge rate next to it. That is the only real way to know if it is a surge run or not. If not, let it pass.

You make a great recommendation of checking the rider app for activity in your area, but I have a question: How can one have an Uber rider account AND the driver account when your mobile number is already registered to the Driver App?

Yes. Uber carries commercial insurance. You don't have to get anything extra.
