I wish the UN would do something serious about the illegal pet trade...there are species whose threatened and endangered status can be directly liked to the trade. In other cases it exacerbates habitat loss and hunting. It is selfish to obtain an exotic pet.
There are lots of contributors...between the medicinal silliness, hunting threatened and endangered animals for eating and the exotic pet trade...humans have a lot to answer for...
