The best side quest is "The Kindness of Strangers" in The Well, New Atlantis. It encapsulates everything Starfield is about and what your place in it can be in just 3 or 4 minutes. A very heartwarming little quest.
Thanks for still making Starfield videos with your busy schedule. I need to start playing this game again. Mexican food sits well for me. Manito Taco Shop is one of the best places to eat and I live over 2000 miles away from Mexico. Friendliest owner, always remembers my wife and daughter’s order and they just started serving beer.
Love watching especially this current play through man you've got patience!! and you are not a patient person looking at your normal play style... Keep going love it!
Glad you took the suggestion. For even more loot, kills and a free ship don't forget Vulture's Roost. And you'll have a rando m space encounter with Captain Myeong where she'll gift you another weapon.
On every NG+, even when I'm on a rush to jump into the Unity, I always attempt to complete at least three side quests: Mantis, Failure to Communicate, and Groundpounder. They'll provide you with enough loot to make a ton of credits.
Remember you do get access to the Vindicator Obliterator Particle beam weapon for your ship after the Ground pounder mission. Draws 2 power so you can have 6 of the on your ship.
Agreed … Taco Bell, Chipotle and Qdoba all tend to end up with prolonged trips to restroom. At the end of which you seeking something to quench the fire down below.

Great video as always DeanPo !! Get the UC weapons, like you said, but finish off the FC questline after that, because the battle with the First is pretty good
Groundpounder was by far my favorite mission. I have much more of a combat focused character so going in and clearing rooms Rainbow Six style was alot of fun... ended up dropping the stealth and went in kicking doors like a Navy SEAL with a full auto AA-99 and a Breach, which was also tons of fun. Got the mission early on in my playthrough, so the loot was not as impressive. But I would love some more missions like that... something like UC Navy or Freestar Militia contracts unlocked with the soldier background. I feel like unique quest opportunities for each background type would add longevity to the game for players that want to make more than one character evolve differently and add more variety than just dialogue options and basic skills (which can all be unlocked eventually anyways).
Check everything because with the randomized loot you can get great drops on low level areas they are just more rare. Im level 142 just now doing the main quest powers. Got a leg adv solstice with telsa staggering and furious slaps pretty hard
My first thought when I saw you get the God Roll Beowolf at the end was "Why does this game hate me?". Same site on Fermi last night had 2 level 98 bosses in the last room. Got them both to low health and did a save. Reloaded 12 times the highest level weapon I got was a purple Kodama out of 2 level 98 pirates. On XBox playing Very Hard since last patch drops have been abolutely terrible.
The quests provide a good opportunity to use mediocre guns. I like to run something like the drum beat with the exploding rounds. It pays to max out your gun crafting skills asap.
All of your playthroughs steamroll the enemies because you run straight to the high level systems from the start, and get all the best gear. How about a playthrough where you start with nothing and work your way up from the low level systems doing quests and role playing instead. do you think that would be more of a challenge Mr. DeanPo? Love your videos by the way!
For me, Ground Pounder was the best combat mission. I wish there were more missions like this in the game. Hopefully, any DLC's that follow will have this kind of content. Great video!
Three Star Systems away from surveying it all. Still have to find one more fauna each on Beta Marae III and Masada III afterwards. Anyway: Thought I jot down how I went about it. (One interesting thing is there is a limit of how far you can travel away from your ship before the game forces you back to the ship). Looks like if you just survey everything with my 1.5x exp boost I will get nearly 140 levels on my character just by surveying alone. Scanning hints from the surface of planets/moons: 1) If on PC get mod that extends the scanner range. Speeds the process immensely. 2) Power boost backpack helps in covering more territory and spin around to scan larger area to click off 3) Max out all surveying skills (much faster scanning just 4 to complete fauna or flora) 4) Nearly all planets with fauna has has had no more than 2 fish species (one exception is on Rana IV-A that has all 4 fauna are fish) and no more than 3 flying species on a planet/moon 5) Found for some reason when scanning resources I tend to complete them by either heading for a planet trait and pick up resources along the way or do a large diameter circle about your landing zone 6) I remember that I only saw two instances where planets/moons have a hidden species in a cave 7) Explore all biomes for greater chance to find all flora and fauna (percentages seem to indicate greater numbers of fauna and flora) 8) For resources I have found when surveying the whole planet/moon from orbit land in the little circular H2O or He3 ones seem to catch more types nearby them 9) Seems to be around a dozen unique traits. I found some that you have to scan more than once to complete sometimes requires you to find it in two different locations (it’s rare). Scanning from system wide view: 1) When entering system if you have max scan skills you can quickly scan all gaseous planets in a system with just a scan and zoom out for each one (super fast) 2) Get mod to boost amount of credits for vendors and Vlad (you get so rich so fast from surveys with Vlad). I usually survey three systems or more and Vlad has his credits restored by then 3) When you set course to a planet/moon you don’t even have to be pointed at it to map it out just hit “M” and scan. Early on I wasted time trying to point my spacecraft at the planet/moon I wanted to scan. 4) General game hint - when docked to a starbase/station if you are not in an instance within that station you can "Set Course" without having to re-enter your ship and undock (saves two steps). Mods specific to surveying that I use (presently using 126 mods in total): CCR - AutoFasterLeveling (set at 1.5x) Increase Starmap Zoom for More Precise Landings - CCR Pilgrimage - A Skill Overhaul Neutral LUTS - No Color Filters Landscape Textures Overhaul Individual Resource Tracking Show XP on Loading Screens Further Looting - Loot up to 5000 away Further Docking - Dock up to 5000 away Vendor Improvements - Available Credits More Credits for Vladimir Spoken Hazard Alerts Real Flashlight Harvest with Scanner (sort of deprecated with latest patch) Immersive Planet Density Perk Up - Quality of Life Improvements Richer Merchants Also use the Immersive landing and docking mods for more immersion into the game.
DeanPo, great video, as always! Love Groundpounders I've done it quite a few times, and if you do it, NG, you get special NG dialog options! It is one of the best combat mini quests! A couple other people have suggested Vulture's Roast because it is a pretty fun combat POI but more importantly it's brimming with Pharmaceutical Kits and various ammo! Yes you will blow through the enemies and with this the rewards are worth the fun of blowing Ecliptic away! Now on to the question of the day...... Mexican fast food in the USA! Well in my experience (don't eat them very often but I do like Taco Bell) the MEMES are just MEMES I have never had gastrointestinal issues with any Mexican fast food and some of it can be pretty good! If I think about fast food getting me sick Wendy's is the only place I have ever gotten sick from the food and oh boy was I sick....lived next to the toilet for a day with actual food poisoning! Went back to the Wendy's and got a free food coupon and have never been sick from any fast food since! Now if you want 'real' Mexican food you need to go to a family owned restaurant (I live in the SW USA so we have plenty of choices) and then you can get some good food! If you ever get to travel to the SW USA ask some locals where the best Mexican restaurant is and you will be happy with the choice! I like the mix of larger more main quests and shorter mini quests with stops in the high level systems for what cool stuff to find! You asked the question if we your fans would like a tutorial and for me not really because I have 1079 hours in game but that being said I am still confused about what the difference is between the various boost packs and would really appreciate a short video explaining them! Please and thank you! I have to LOL in the final UC Listening Post you missed the key that opens two doors..... not that it's a big thing but they ALWAYS have Pharmaceutical Kits and ammo inside those.... this is a no vendor run so those few extra meds and ammo might be crucial! Just saying 😉
Go back to the freestar the 2nd to last mission is fighting the freestar makitia. Warning. Take a crap load of medpacks and ammunition. There will be loads of them to fight and loads of ammo and weapons to pick. Up.
This is a great quest, love the back and forth. Unfortunately, the Peacemaker isn't a top-tier drop, that's for sure. The Freestar mission against the First is probably one of the best in the game in terms of the number of adversaries and their levels. I'm in the States, Mexican chains aren't as bad as they would have you believe. I'm a bit of a different case because I like things HOT! We have an Indian restaurant nearby and when I order there I order Vindaloo and tell them to make it hotter than normal. Thanks for your work here, have been enjoying the heck out of it. Like the way you're experimenting around with the games parameters. I thought I was the only one this crazy. I'm pushing 1000 hours now (just retired) BUT, I did the first 600-700 hours starting from early release while I was still working 45-hour weeks. I think my gaming hours were at least keeping pace with my working hours.
I wish I could do this on Xbox, current play through (inspired by you obviously) is hard mode of course but I save scammed the Mantis gear until I got good perks and a balanced pack and I'm keeping it for the whole playthrough to keep resistances low and squishy... Will still be faceroll by level 30 sadly..
DeanPo, the only 'Mexican' fast food I've encountered was cheap & greasy stuff, from cheap, independent places. It does happen, but not if you watch out.
I see you miss a lot of stuff, like alien genetic material which gives +500 Damage Resistance for 30s. I have found in safes many legendary weapons, meds, etc. At the mantis suit for instance you can save scan it for much better buffs before opening the door.
I finally did this side quest for the first time yesterday and was disappointed that the weapon doesn't level with you. So no point in using it when I can go find an advanced A-99 on any ecliptic body.

Chipotle, for example, has, notoriously, been the source of numerous outbreaks of food-born illnesses due to badly trained employees. They supposedly cleaned up their act a bit.
It's less to do with Mexican, and more to do with the questionable meat. I live in Canada, and anytime I get fastfood, whatever it is in the States, it's pretty bad. Some of the best food I've ever eaten was in Mexico. I think Taco Bell is 'Mexican', not Mexican.
