I found that using the dull side of a butter knife against a straightedge, that it creases the cardboard enough to create a nice folded edge, no real need to perforate the cardboard.
This is an incredibly sleek, well paced, and thought out video I feel a shipping video could pay a lot of money for to use internally. It's actually criminal it didn't net you more subscribers.
Thank you so much for this. Such easy and clear instructions. You have saved me hours of looking for boxes online (that don't exist to my exact measurements!). I love how the boxes will fit the items exactly - saves all the extra packaging too.
This is good, and it can be useful. It is generally more useful for most to master the art of making a big box smaller, as needed. He probably spent 2-3 times as much time as I would to make a similar box to what I would make from a bigger box, but mine would also be uglier.
Great video. Shipping prices and calculations are totally messed up now, so it pays to be able to make a box to fit your item. There can be big differences in shipping larger packages due to a few inches difference in dimensions.
Why was the flap measurement only 5 though....you had 5 plus the 2.... that's 7. You said 6 for the width (the 4 plus the 2 inches for height). Am I missing something? Other than that, I'm gonna make up some templates for my art pieces today!! Thanks for your video. 😃
Exactly what I needed. I just ruined a dozen cardboard boxes trying to figure it out on my own. When in doubt, resort to TH-cam! Thank you very very much!
Just found your vid on your website; you have save me so much money lol. I have a tea company and wanted to get some shipping boxes but they cost so much. Thanks for the vid!!!
I might have to end up doing this I have two odd size items I need to sell and can’t find the right size box for them. I repeatedly go back to the shopping center to no avail. Now I going to find the biggest box and break it down. My only hope.
If you have a Costco or Sam's Club close by, ask them for the cardboard between products, always free. If you ask nicely they will help find them. I had to hunt for some tonight myself as they were closing
You can also get cardboard from bins in the backs of stores and stores in general. The last two times I moved, I got all of my boxes from recycling bins in backs of stores that were getting rid of boxes their products came in and also the dollar store. All free. ;)

I wouldn't use cardboard boxes for heavy lifting. There's too much of a chance that it'll just break and fall down and potentially break or chipped (even destroyed, if it's delicate). For heavy objects that need shipping, build a wooden box and use plenty of padding inside. The postage firm would have to deliberately break it in order for the package to get damaged.
It’s the OLFA Perforation Cutter. I ordered mine through Amazon. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077Y6H5BK/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B077Y6H5BK&linkCode=as2&tag=colwoodcraft-20&linkId=e8e0e691d2a759111067913d179ffcce
Then you build a jig that cuts the basic template, a jig that scores and a jig that folds. Or if you wanna be really fancy, you combine all three into one jig, but generally, if you need to make x number of any part, you make a jig to do it repeatedly and precise.
jesus those sheets are expensive LOL I will just save materials I get xD my goodness. It's cheaper to to buy boxes with less work from uline than doing all this and buy cardboard sheets!
You're misleading people.. if you're not shipping something like wood, the entire box needs to be full. There needs to be styrofoam or something next to that top piece of wood to keep it from getting damaged. And you're nowhere near an old man.
Somebody else made a video that was like 45 minutes about this, so naturally I clicked on this instead. Excellent video.
Hahaha same here, first up was 40 minutes +

Genius!!
I think that'll work with single wall but when I did it withdouble wall it just needed the cut.

What if I want to print on the carton in full color? Is it possible to print on sticker (SAV) and stick on it?
Where do you get cardboard? I need to make a 24x24x6 box.
Which type of cardboard did you use?
I might have to end up doing this I have two odd size items I need to sell and can’t find the right size box for them. I repeatedly go back to the shopping center to no avail. Now I going to find the biggest box and break it down. My only hope.

How could I do this to create a box to ship a twin xl electric bed frame that weight 110lbs but it folds in half the frame so help

Anyone know where to get sheets of cardboard relatively cheap?
I actually order mine from Staples.com! You can get them on Amazon as well but Staples has been the cheapest option and they offer free shipping.
I find it a problem for finding the material (corrugated box) in my area
Thanks for this! (Um, you're not an old man. 😆)
Where to get the sheet of cardboard in first place?
Hello! I order my cardboard sheets from Staples.com. They tend to be the cheapest and they ship for free!
yee
I would be duct taping that sheet on the wall somehow and standing to cut it. Knee pads wouldn’t work for my knees.
Where do you get your cardboard squares ?
I order them from Staples.com. That’s been the cheapest place I could find the sizes I use.
What is the name of scoring tool you are using?
It’s the OLFA Perforation Cutter. I ordered mine through Amazon. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077Y6H5BK/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B077Y6H5BK&linkCode=as2&tag=colwoodcraft-20&linkId=e8e0e691d2a759111067913d179ffcce

Teach us how to make “flat sheet of cardboard”
th-cam.com/video/fPFAlwuw3bM/w-d-xo.html when you close your box there's a gap. Maybe account for the fold and your 4" flap?
Which ply is best for door?
Yeah, but what if I have 100 of the same size I would need?

When you see his serious work station and tools.. Ya think to yourself 'Nah I will just spend a couple of bucks on a ready made box..
I heard the loud music and I went to another site.
Did ye? Aye?
