      @@problemchild1976 ---whats that?---haters? Morwell Australia -- there a few haters -dear old mum loved to blow the doors of the hoons pulled up for traffic light duel, she had 1976 240 wagon -with nothing more than free'er flow exhaust -- and the orange brick would launch from green light and leave most still sitting at lights wondering what just happened....😁👍....

    Man, that's beautiful and an inspiration. I was on the fence between a 240 and a Mercedes W123, but I think you just made my mind up.

    • @problemchild1976
      @problemchild1976  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think the 240 utterly fits and gets so many looks
      The W123 is a nice car but has classic looks rather than retro
      The Volvo is so easy to work on too and I love the fact they used a 12mm for the nut and a 13mm for the bolt head - genius

    Nice work! I bought almost the same '89 245 (only US spec) brand new, in Nov 1988. It was a DL, and also green-blue, with a 5-speed, but mine had the light brown cloth interior. I kept it until 1997, and I wish I had never sold it. It was my favorite car in 48 years of driving. BTW, my PV-544 has the prancing moose stickers.

      No engine swap (that I know of)
      Focus on rust as it's the hardest to fix - arches and spare wheel well.
      Trim pieces are expensive to get hold of.
      Otherwise normal bits for any other car.
      Check what engine
      Type of fuel delivery (carb, k-jet or normal injection)
      Fluid leaks are common so don't worry too much

From 1988 every volvo had the B230f 2.0 LH-jetronic, i know because i worked on the assembly line and build these cars. Only country to have the 2 litre engine was italy, due to the tax laws of their country. So either you have the pictures mixed up, or some one is selling you a much older car with newer look..

(small manufacturer) This in the 240 was mostly even years, exept for the big update in -81, (in america -86). 1988 was a big change with the 230f engine, cat, LH 2.0, lambda and so on. Cars got 10-12% more expensive and not all sold out, so since -89 is a middle year with nothing big to change, many -88 was updated and sold as -89. 1990 was fex. the big changes: rails, new hatch door, new doorhandles, start of blackline models, other windowseal etc. If you have matching number this is probably the explenation to the somewhat od engine. But with a stress fan the old k can put out much more bhp, so it´s a good engine. None of them had 5 bearing for the crank, only 7 so they can handle up to 1.6-1.7 bars turbo pressure.
