      How is it? I just ordered the Magenta Prestige and I think I should get it some time at the end of the week at the soonest or early next week. I'm quite anxious and actually worried that the milk texture for mainly the flat white won't be as good as I imagine it to be.

    What grind settings you for the best result, now I set at step 2 or should I adjust to step 1 for better result?

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi TU, Thanks for the question. Depends on the coffee used. Personally, I start at the finest grind setting for espresso. Fairly rare for me to set coarser grinds. But, if you detect bitter flavor you can set a little coarser to correct.

    Hello. If I am using filtered water (have several from zero to a reverse osmosis machine to plain Poland spring), do I still need to insert the provided filter? Also, is there a pre-infusion which has the machine go through a quick clean/cleanse before and after a coffee extraction? Or do I have to do one manually by making a blank espresso shot? And if this is an advisabel process just to ensure that there is no coffee buildup?

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, thanks for the question. I'd advise against using pure zero TDS RO water in the machine. Long-term use of that type of water may cause corrosion of metals. For other water types test to determine its hardness and enter the result in the machine. Based on that information the machine will alert when it's time to descale. The softer the water, the longer between descalings. Using a filter (be sure and enter filter use in the machine's setting) will further extend periods between descaling. You do not have to use a filter if you choose not to.
      Hope that helps!

      Thank you for the info. Did not know water filtered from zero can be bad for coffee machines. So either I use water filtered from are reverse osmosis machine which gives a TDS of about 27 or Poland spring. Is that okay? I am just wondering whether using a filter from a filtered water is overkill. I know that the quality of water is paramount in better tasting coffee. In my town, our tap water has a very high tds so we always use filtered water. I know from our filtered water, I measure water hardness to be at level 1. So will using the supplied filter still be beneficial in the overall taste?

    Hi! I just got a brand new machine and during the first priming, it gives me a code 5 and after replacing the water several times, it does not go away. Any idea how to fix this?

    Hello, my machine is new and indeed the pucks are incredibly wet, actually what I have in the dreg drawer is a coffee soup, not a puck. I have brewed through at least 10 cycles already but the issue seems to persist. I am using a pretty dark roast, oily, so maybe that is the reason, tried the finest grind setting, then coarser, nothing changes. I will try another blend and see what happens.

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi z, Not uncommon for pucks to be rather wet as the machine learns the dosing during first grind cycles. Oily beans may be causing more of an issue. Be aware we strongly recommend against using beans with full oil coating. Beans with average of less than ~30% visible surface oil coating are okay to use. Know that extra oily beans can cause grinder clogs.

  • @Retired365

    What grind setting is found to be best to set it at? or what grind setting do you prefer to use on the magentas?

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Marc, On super auto machines like the Magenta I always start with grind set to finest setting. First thing I set on a machine before adding beans. Can always back off to a coarser setting if you feel coffee is over-extracted. I do Americanos for longer coffees. If I were using the straight "coffee" button on the machine and never doing espresso I'd start grind at a middle setting.

    I just got my prestige and it made it through maybe one cup of coffee before the grinder locked up. I vacuumed out all the beans and it spins if no beans are in but it locks up on any number of beans. Is this a faulty machine?

    Love the video... you mentioned 16:20 turning the grind setting to the left is the fine grade but that is from your view. I think from our view turing to the right (counter clockwise) is the finest level. Correct?

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good catch. To avoid confusion, turning it counter-clockwise (when looking down at the dial), is finer. Turning it clockwise is courser.

    Well I got it today and I have the same issue as zmacuable. After 7-8 cycles, my espresso is terrible and my puck is a soup. I do not use oily beans... Any help please?

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi CK, I always start a new machine with grind set to finest and strength set to highest setting. It does take a few cycles for the machine to learn/adapt to the coffee, dose weight and grind size. Try a few consistently with grind set to finest and strength at max.

      @@Wholelattelovepage Hey, thanks for the response.. I started with Grind to finest and strengh to medium (it was the default) and i got no good results after 7-8 espressos. So, i should switch to full coffee strenght and leave the dose to 30ml right ?

    • @Wholelattelovepage

      Hey Tony, Setup is fairly straightforward. Most bottled water should be fine, but do test the water and enter hardness into the machine's menu. Doing so will alert you to descale the machine at the proper interval.

    My Magenta Prestige can't get past the initial setup. It prompts to fill the water tank, which I do, then prompts to insert the water spout, which I do....and then nothing happens. take it out put it back in, wiggle it about. nothing allows me to move past the "Insert water spout" screen. no buttons do anything, apart from power which allows me to turn it off. Machine is an expensive hunk of useless plastic until I can get past this damned startup screen.
