    Guys, I love how detailed that comparison was! it definitely helped me decide which is the best suited model for me (Cardona Prestige looks amazing for me). The content is great, I love how you cover all differences, main functionalities, also the extra comments about the way they do double shots and Americano - this kind of thing is priceless because it is not something you would get out of the usual product details. It is a very nice pro touch on this kind of reviews, which honestly makes giagantic difference when you are shopping from a range of machines which are seemingly the same kind of features.
    If you have time, I had a question. I noticed that you haven't reviewed anything from Saeco lately and was wondering why? From what I see models like Saeco Xelsis Deluxe could be competitive to Cardona/Magenta Prestige. I read some articles but they are not as good and detailed as your comparisons. What is your opinion on the Saeco models that are in the price range of Magenta/Cardona Prestige? Who would be your personal favourite?

    We just got our Gaggia Magenta yesterday and love it. We're a couple, one drinks espresso and one milky drinks so didn't need multiple profiles. So quick and easy and makes great drinks. After watching your review the other day I didn't need to read the instructions but was able to get straight into brewing, thanks for the well timed video 👍

      Hi AM, Thanks for the kind comment and question. My daily driver in the studio last 7 months has been the Cadorna Prestige. I like the machine a lot. I do at least two Americanos daily and the occasional flat white which is my favorite milk drink. We have a few other people using the machine so each of us having our own profile on the machine is handy. Money aside the best available IMO is the Jura GIGA 6. It's about 3x the price of the Cadorna Prestige has insane features like 2 bean hoppers which can mix into a single drink if desired. It does 2 milk drink simultaneously and has very adjustable froth density and mixing plus adjustable milk temps: www.wholelattelove.com/products/jura-giga-6

    Hi Marc. Thanks a lot for this comparison, I really needed it as I am trying to decide between the Magenta Prestige and the Cadorna Prestige. Which of the 2 Gaggia would you choose? Is there a difference in taste/quality (assuming I.m using the same beans on both)?
    For the cortado, since I'm really looking for that creamy feel of the milk, not foamy like in cappuccinos, is one Gaggia doing it better than the other?
    Also, is there a grinder setting that can be used for espresso and all the other drinks so I don't have to change it, but also not sacrifice quality in one or the other? Or should I use a certain setting for espresso and then change if I want milk based or americano?
    And lastly, do you know if cortado & flat white are available worldwide for these 2 machines or only for the US market? I.m form Europe (Romania).
    Thanks a lot in advance!

    Fabulous video. Great information. I don't know if it has been asked, I scrolled through and couldn't see. Is there any difference in quality of froth between the milk carafe one and the one where the milk is in the glass jar with the tube? (wand is too much work for me🙂) Does that make a difference? Thanks so much for these videos. I have been looking for a while at different machines and I love the changeable temperature offered here. My current machine make the coffee luke warm so I have to put hot water in the tank before use every time - hence looking for a new machine.

    HI, thank you very much for an excellent review. I have been following you for few years, great selection and video covering product features with demonstration. I am building courage to go for a super automatic ($$$). But I am always torn between the Barista type touch vs convenience of automatic like Prestige. If one is a regular coffee drinker, how easy is it to use a Barista model? Also will the Milk model double as a Barista?

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi JM, Thanks for the question. Making milk drinks with the Prestige or Milk models is very convenient. On models with a commercial style manual steam wand there is a bit of skill/technique involved. But get that down and you'll have more precise control of froth density and milk temperature. It's not hard to do, just takes a little practice and effort. Here's a fantastic video AJ made on Milk frothing for beginners that takes you through the technique right through to pouring latte art. Watch the video and if you feel it's something you can do then the machines with manual steam wand might be a better choice: th-cam.com/video/4PSCsv7kcKA/w-d-xo.html
      The milk model works like the Prestige - just a different way of getting milk into the cup.

  • @ilonioum
    @ilonioum 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Gaggia has a very serious flaw with milk carafe spout (Cadorna Prestige), if you put it along with the container in the fridge, the milk blocks the passage whether you flush it, wash or wathever. And this leads to milk carafe not dispensing any milk. To avoid this issue, take out the milk dispensing spout when you put the milk in the fridge, just do a quick rinse under the water and let it dry to be ready for next use. Another solution is to use the cleaning tablets every couple of weeks.

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi i, Thanks for the tips! Also, use the Quick Rinse function on the machine prior to removing the carafe to clean the spout.

    Hi guys GREAT video right here . I can’t decide between the Cadorna Barista plus or the prestige. Price is not the issue but drink size ( travel cup ) and most importantly milk quality is. I like a a large latte twice a day is the auto milk frother as good or at least close to the manual wand of the plus. I like a micro foam . Hope you can help I appreciate it’s a year late. What one would you choose?

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Rhys, if you're very particular about froth you'll likely be happier with manual frothing on the Barista Plus. With that you can texture milk however you like and get to true micro-foam capable of pouring latte art. Froth from the Prestige carafe tends to be a little airier falling between micro-foam and airier traditional cappuccino froth.

    When you made the latte macchiato on the Córdoba prestige , I’m not sure if that’s the way it is make the drink but the milk kind of exploded and splashed onto the pitcher. It sounds like a little high maintenance machine although the functionality and capability is superb.
    Very good overview on the Gaggia machines but are the ceramic burr grinder components standalone replacement if and when they become worn out? Thanks.

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi WN, Thanks for the comment and sharing your observation. Espresso and milk drinks can at times be a messy business. Every once in awhile random chaotic variables lineup to cause some spurts of milk. The proper sized and placed cup/glass helps control. Ceramic burrs hold their edge/sharpness longer than similar steel burrs. Unless damaged, burrs should be good for the life of the machine. With proper maintenance machine life is >15,000 brew cycles. And, we get regular reports of >20,000 brew cycles. In the unlikely event burrs need replacement one would replace the entire grinder assembly.

      Hi cl, Thanks for the question - I understand these decisions can be difficult! If you have not watched already you may learn more from our individual in-depth videos on each machine available at these links: www.wholelattelove.com/products/gaggia-magenta-prestige-super-automatic-espresso-machine
      www.wholelattelove.com/products/gaggia-cadorna-prestige
      Just scroll down to the video section and the Product Review tab
      Some key differences: The Cadorna has a more premium feel to materials used in construction. a Good example is the metallic trim on the milk carafe. The Cadorna user interface is nicer with a larger color display surroned by soft touch buttons. The Cadorna's water reservoir is accessible from the front of the machine while the Magenta's is up top. The Cadorna has a metallic passively heated cup warming surface. The Cadorna has a few more drink options like XL versions of cappuccino and the latte macchiato. A key difference is the Cadorna can store 4 versions of each beverage in the user profiles. On the Magenta you can change programming of the drinks but can store only a single version of each drink.
      Hope that helps!

Here's the only thing holding my wife and I back, she only likes one specific Nespresso pod, the Lungo Capriccio. She goes through 6 of them per day. She said she's in for a new machine to replace ours but I have to find this coffee in a bean form first. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    • @DomzyDX
      @DomzyDX 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Kinda late, but I'm going to point out that Nespresso IS NOT espresso, it's something else entirely, it's literally just coffee with a foaming agent to make fake (crema) to look like espresso. And as far as lungo capricio goes, lungo is a type of drink, and capricio is just a fancy name, it's not a real coffee. You would simply just try a darker roast made into a lungo to get something that could be called that. But it wouldn't taste the same.

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Colleen, Thanks for the question. If the user profiles are not important then the Magenta Barista is a good choice. Both machines use the same process for making espresso/coffee so no difference in quality there. Only exception is the Cadorna has 10 grind settings and it's 5 on the Magenta. So more precision in grind size setting on the Cadorna. Majority of users will not notice a difference with fewer grind settings. The Cadorna has front slide out access to the water reservoir and used coffee drawer. Water access for Magenta is up top so be aware of that if placing the machine under overhanging cabinetry. Hi William, Happy to hear you love the Cadorna Prestige! I use the Cadorna carafe a lot and have never had that happen. A few possibilities... residual milk in the frothing head leaked out, some weird pressure or temperature change that pushed milk out while in fridge. Did you do a Quick Milk Clean before returning carafe to fridge? That should clear residual milk in the carafe's frothing components and is best practice after using the carafe. It's available anytime by pressing Clean/Settings then Clean and Quick Milk Clean.

      Hi Stephen, Thanks for the question. The machines which do the frothing for you it's the same texture used for all drinks. It's a very fine froth. What makes a difference is flipping of the milk prep order by drink type. For example for a cappuccino milk is frothed first. For a flat white it's espresso first then milk. The Magenta Plus and the Cadorna Barista have a manual frothing wand so you can do the milk however you like.

He is really into latte art and wants a hands on machine, while I prefer something more automatic. I worked at Starbucks for 5 years and had my fill of being a barista! I enjoy plain ristretto shots and an occasional flat white, but I'm not sure if I will regret not having the steam wand for a once in a while cappuccino. I also have a feeling the latte art is just a phase of my fiance's and he will eventually appreciate a one-touch machine. Thanks for the video and please help ASAP!

      Forgot to mention that we only use non-dairy milk! I heard that may make a difference in froth quality.

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Elizabeth, Thanks for the question. Going through a latte art phase or just trying to impress his fiance? The Prestige like most machines with automatic frothing does a middle ground froth quality. A bit airier than what you want for latte art and not quite as airy as a traditional dry cappuccino. With the milk order prep flip based on drink the Magenta Prestige does a nice job on flat white (milk last), and cappuccino (milk first). Of course if you want ultimate control of froth quality you have to go with a manual wand like on the Classic or Magenta Plus. You will have more consistent and convenient espresso with an automatic but they do not have the same potential quality as a semi-auto like the Classic. Non-dairy milks do make a difference in froth quality and brand choice plays a roll in that. Here's a video in which we tested a number of non-dairy milk types in manual and automatic frothing machines: th-cam.com/video/jO9l7oENq1Q/w-d-xo.html
      Hope that helps!

    What’s the difference in coffee flavor with these super automatic machines vs a manual one? Are you losing anything there for the convenience?

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Jon, the biggest difference is that there's much higher ability to tweak and dial in different variables on manual/semi-automatic machines. Depending on the machine and grinder, you can be extremely specific with grind size, dose, brew temperature, pressure, and flow. Super automatics have some level of customizability but as you mentioned they're designed for convenience. You can certainly get great coffee out of super autos, and I know people that prefer the taste from these machines, but there's a greater opportunity to customize the manual machines to find the perfect taste to suit your preferences, with a bit more practice and patience.

    Love this video. Trying to choose between the 2 magentas. I know you have said the prestige makes the drinks in traditional Italian order. Can I ask does the milk texture/foam/density alter automatically to suit each recipie or is it a case of "one foam fits all"?

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Annette, The models which froth automatically do one density type. What does make a difference is flipping the milk prep order based on the drink being made. So it's milk first for a cappuccino or latte macchiato and espresso first for drinks like the flat white. If you want complete control of froth style/density then choose the Magenta Plus or Cadorna Barista Plus. Those machines have the commercial style manual steam wand. It takes a little skill to use but once you've got the technique you can make whatever density or milk temp you like. Be aware the commercial wand on the Cadorna is only available in North America.

    I 've read 1 or 2 articles that gaggia machines are making less strong coffee compared to other super automatic machines, even with the same settings? (same grams of coffee, same coffee beans, same amount of water) Do you believe that this is true? Also is it possible to make a video comparing automatic coffee machines which one makes stronger coffee keeping the same settings? and a video comparing gaggia vs jura?

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi, Thanks for the question/request. Actually I think it's quite the opposite. The Gaggia Magenta and Cadorna machines in this video use a dose of 6.5 - 11.5 grams per grind cycle. If you like it strong program a shorter espresso/coffee and have the machine make a double and can use up to a 23g dose of ground coffee. Gaggia machines will run 2 grind and brew cycles when requesting 2 cups. But you can make those 2 cups into a single cup for a very strong drink. It depends on the Jura model but max ground coffee dose on most is ~14g. When requesting 2 cups on a Jura more brew water is passed through that ground coffee and Jura machines only do a single grind cycle.

    Hi, thank you for your great review. As I compare dimensions, Cadorna is bigger than Magenta. However Magenta has bigger capacity of water tank and dreg drawer. Is it just aesthetic design and material which makes Cadorna bigger and heavier than Magenta?
    I was planning to buy Cadorna Prestige but seems like Magenta Prestige does the same job for me ( I am aware extra features of Cadorna, thanks to you ) and there is no quality difference other than appearance. I want a decent flat white and long lasting machine. Do you think would Cadorna lasts longer than Magenta?

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi OI, You are welcome and thanks for the comment and question. The materials used on the Cadorna are a bit more substantial making for a higher quality product. Longevity is in large part determined by using good quality water and performing routine maintenance. With more robust materials used in the case construction the Cadorna can take a bit more abuse. Flat white is essentially the same quality from either machine.
