Hard to believe he walked out of the hospital the next day with only a bruise. Almost seems impossible. He didn't miss a beat either, the kid came back and continued where he left off. Big future ahead of him.

I'm a lifelong Cardinals fan, and Cutch is one of my favorite non-Cardinals players. When I saw the way the Pirates fans and players cheered for Piscotty, it made me respect the organization even more. Very classy of the players and fans. When I saw this play happen my heart sank. Then Piscotty came back and still raked. This kid could be the next big star for us.

+carbajal8283 naw, their pitchers hit other teams franchise players breaking their hands cause they suck ass. Cutch then pulls a muscle swinging and tries to blame it on the hbp he took the next game

When I saw this I wanted to cry. To all the Pirate fans, you are a class act. The fact you stood up in silence and appalled as he was being taken off was nothing short of respectful. When something like this happens it shouldn't matter anymore on who we are rooting for but for health of the player.

Crazy play. I was scared to death. I remembered praying for him. Thank God Piscotty was OK (and had a great postseason to boot). This was also one of my favorite Cardinal regular season games of the last 15 years. They stranded some absurd number of Pirate runners on base, had this catastrophic injury, and still won in the 9th, I recall. Go Cards! And go Piscotty! One of my favorite players.

I'm a die hard cards fan, so for me this was the scariest moment of the season. Stephen Piscotty is a young up and coming player so I was very worried for him and the cards chance at making the postseason. But you got to love the Pirates support for Piscotty.

I watched this game on TV as a Cards fan. Everyone talks about how classy the Pirates fans were, and it’s true. What struck me the most and I remember it to the day, when you see the fans right by the wall where it happened, what do t you see? I didn’t see anyone with a cell phone recording it. That’s what struck me the most. Whether it was an intentional act or not, that to me was the most classy part of the whole thing.

I've seen this a handful of times over the years, and I just now saw the neck brace Piscotty was wearing as a precautionary measure. It makes sense, of course, and I was happy to see that they took every conceivable precaution with this injury, because that collision was extremely violent.
