      The way I see it is that being employed as a medic for a sports team doesn't necessarily mean you have to be a fan of that team (or even sport)...you're there to work, not watch the game (if you enjoy it, that's just a bonus). Once your services are needed, any team allegiance goes out the window and you're in work mode.

    The contrast between football/baseball, or any sport where giving someone a concussion isn't the goal like in boxing/mma/all the fighting sports, when it happens the crowd is overjoyed while one guy/girl runs around celebrating and the other person lays on the ground in a life threatening condition. The crowds are silent and concerned in one, and the injured is removed and goes through a concussion protocol, but in the other the ref counts to eight and asks the injured if he/she wants to keep going, and he is cheered or booed for the decision by the not concerned at all crowd.
    The Miami pitcher Jennings, hit in the head at the 44 min mark, looked just like a boxer getting a concussion and trying to get back up. While Jennings was tended to by trainers and doctors the stadium is silent. If that was an MMA event the crowd would have been going crazy happy that they got to witness someone getting brain damage.

    Pitchers need a helmet or something. During a cricket match in Australia, a batsman (who was wearing a helmet) was hit in the head below where the helmet ended, it was just the wrong spot. He was taken to hospital and a few days later he died. No one thought it would ever happen, but it did. Helmets are now designed a little differently, they finish lower and offer more protection. Pitcher’s have absolutely no protection, just their reflexes and a glove. When a ball is hit back at head height there is no where to go. I fear the day a pitcher is hit in just the wrong spot and it doesn’t end well.

    That Saunders injury gets me everytime I see it. I have to look away. The way his arm just flops is horrifying. And the posey collision I can’t do either. I sprained my ankle when I was a kid, and it almost knocked my bone off the growth plate. I broke it years later and still remember that the sprain was worse than the break. Sprain: crutches for 3 months. Broken: crutches for 2 days, walking cast for 3 months. So leg and feet injuries I can’t handle. I do miss collisions at home plate though. Easily was one of the best parts of baseball back in the day.

      He was right and had a point - you can see him moving some but they're still treating him as if he's unconscious, because they're being careful. He wasn't saying the injury was minor or that he was overreacting, just that whether he was in a lot of pain at the time or actually experiencing a severe head injury they would've done the same thing.

    You’re a major league pitcher.
    If you hit someone in the head; you’re doing it on purpose.
    There is no excuse with your control or the ball for it. You get paid 100s of thousands of dollars to do this.
    That’s my dad I’m meeting you with a thirty eight and a bat at night.

    • @joehansen9826
      @joehansen9826 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

      I dunno, I do believe accidents happen. You can tell in some of the pitchers reactions that it wasn’t the expected result (maybe it was an accident or maybe they meant to hit the batter but not necessarily in the head).
      But, I’ve never been a pitcher, so I can’t speak to the kinda things that throw off control.

    • @Alsebra
      @Alsebra 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Counterpoint: Batters should be able to control their hit just as much as a pitcher controls their pitch, meaning they're at fault for line drives nailing a pitcher/infielder/umpire.

    • @totalbomb64
      @totalbomb64 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @chloehennessey, as a pitcher it honestly depends on who you’re facing, but most of the time it is an accident. Most pitchers nowadays use substances to get a better grip on the ball so things like hitting batters doesn’t happen. However, some pitchers and batters won’t get along and pitchers will intentionally hit the batter. It’s not common, though.
      @Alsebra, while what you say is true, hitting in the exact spot you want to is very hard to do, because of the amount of pitches and velocities a pitcher might have, but also your reaction time can put a play in it. So while it is important to be able to control where you hit the ball, it doesn’t always come out exactly how you want it to, and can sometimes (not often) end up hitting someone in the head. Plus, hitting a baseball into someone’s head will never be anyone’s goal in the majors, so they will always be accidents. I’ve seen instances where batters have hit people in the head, and their reactions always said “I didn’t want to do that”.
      So a quick summary: batters will never intentionally hit someone in the head, because one, they will want to hit it in a location that benefits them most and two, hitting someone in the head won’t get you anything except guilt on your shoulders. Pitchers will almost never intentionally hit the batter in the head because one, since 2015 they use substances to get better control of the ball so hitting batters won’t happen (or will if you want to hit someone’s head, which is not cool), and two, pitchers will want to throw pitches that benefits their chances of winning.

      Oh my a$$, a paycheck doesn't make them non human. So does that mean every wild pitch or non strike are on purpose? What about fielding errors, those are committed by major league players with big pay checks, I guess they are doing those on purpose. And strike outs, next time someone strikes out they should fine them because they make a lot of money and are major league players who can bat really well. Why would any of them strike out.
