      Same! It adds that much more to the viewers, and an extra helping of pride for them. Those foul balls are like rockets off the bat, and can cause some serious damage. So every bit of effort they put into plays like this should be praised.

      They can save a lot of injuries to the people in the stands. My dad used to play pro ball for a few teams, the Twins being one of them and he said it wasn't uncommon to see a lot of people get hurt by foul balls. The tv cameras used to shy away from showing that back then as well. You saw the ball fly into the stands and maybe hit someone but then you didn't see the aftermath as they had to be taken away bleeding profusely from the face.

      Watch a Women's College World Series game and watch how close the third base plays and how fast she will react. The base is 60 feet from the Plate and they usually setup 3-5 feet closer to the plate. 1st Base plays similarly. and the pitcher is only 45 ft away.

      @GhostRider-sc9vu 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @TheSportsGuru I played Men's slow-pitch including third till that age or near it.
      However the ball is bigger not as hard and having less assistance from the pitcher in increasing its speed, but 60 ft is still very close to the plate.
      I always admired the courage of the third base women who would play at normal depth when former Arizona batter Jessie Harper was up. th-cam.com/video/tjPRkvqgcZI/w-d-xo.html

      What if every play in bounds is simply a regular, non-highlight play? I think most people have no clue how much they take for granted catching a simple fly ball. I played baseball competitively until I was 17 and, having an opportunity to do a simple pop fly challenge at Kauffman Stadium back in 2001, tracking a fly ball in a triple deck stadium is not easy, and I felt fortunate to have caught 2 out of 3.

    Great catches! You guys have to check out the best catches in cricket where they catch the ball which is just as hard as a baseball with their bare hands! Also for those who don't understand the sport, there is a boundary rope encircling the entire ground. Unlike baseball, if the fielder has any part of his body touching or beyond the rope, not only is the batsman 'not out' but also gets six runs. How fielders manage to catch balls right at the edge or even at times in the air of the boundary rope is phenomenal and definitely a sight to behold!

    Awesome plays by all!👏. But another thing in common is that every one of them didn’t take a bow. Instead they instantly were looking for someone to give it to.

    Watching the players celebrate those great catches is awesome.... On the flip side, watching the players ducking like they are terrified of the ball leaves a bit to be desired.

      All of these were excellent catches, and obviously the pros make them day in an day out..but that one in the corner was the best catch I've ever seen .....anywhere.

      That “catch” was part of a Gatorade commercial played by cable assisted stuntwoman Phoenix Brown and never aired. Search the web for numerous sources including Snopes. Was a cool stunt though.

    The best part of this is ther players reactions to plays made by the ball kids. Imagine making a play on a ball at 14, and Mookie Betts comes over to give you a high five?
