ENA WAS A LEGEND A BRILLIANT ACTRESS AND ELSIE WASO ATTRACTIVE BOTH THE BEST I WATCH CORRIE FROM THE FIRT EPIODE IN DEC 1960 HEN THEY WERE PROPER ACTORS THE BEST 👍👍👍
Well now that’s a coincidence. This was 3 days before my mum and dad got married! I wonder if mum saw this episode.Later on she won a cutlery set at bingo and it was presented to her by none other than Coronation streets’ Pat Phoenix.Mum said it was thrilling at the time to meet her as everyone watched Corrie then.
Years later, of course, but imagine if ‘Preston’s Petals’ was open at the end of the street! I’d love to hear someone like Mary’s words of wisdom to Valerie!
Honestly-Frank makes a poignant comment about wishing Ida was there, then says he doesn’t need to tell Ken the facts of life, and Ken lowers the tone by saying No, we did it in biology.’
This was such a lovely episode, both looked so nice and everyone getting on and all dressed up to the 9ns.Great to see it all again, fancy Annie being a bit tight haha lived it.
Emily: "I love a wedding... watching them I mean" Ena:" life is for the living. If I was you I would get in that back room with him and do a bit of nittin" hahahahahaha naughty Mrs Sharples 🤣
I remember ( from a later episode) Jack Duckworth's opinion on weddings. 'Weddings always bring me out in a cold sweat. Mind, I did 'ave a traumatic experience at a wedding once." "Why? What happened?" "Our Vera said 'yes'."
@8:35: Annie saying: Pass me the bacon scissors..... Bacon scissors? Never heard that before. Am I missing something here? ------ Val was a very beautiful bride. Too bad they married her off to that awful ass Ken. Still, there wasn't much else to pick from on Coronation Street.
love how the mirror obligingly gives a wibble-wobble on the thin wobbly wall to let us know the door's about to be opened!!! 6:32 - as the door handle must have stuck!!
If this was modern Corrie, there’d have been a Coronavirus reference when Valerie was disappointed with the flowers. Annie would’ve said “With Coronavirus, everything’s so far behind.”
Every character perfectly written. Every scene rang true. Quality from the master, Tony Warren.
Jack, it's a funny old world 2024.

And four days before Marilyn Monroe died.
Fantastic, especially Annie drunk - perfect TV.
Oh that was lovely what Ena said to Elsie.
Nice to see them getting on. Think when Ena left ( think she left before Elsie) they were friends.
I think she saw Elsie as a daughter figure.
Ena and the other one at the church...classic.

To think Valerie is a long serving actor and still going.
Beautiful episode.
Ty so much for uploading these episodes great fan from nz here
Annie " It's perfectly obvious you've never been a bride, Jack Walker!"
Jack. " No, well it'd be a funny world if I 'ad!"
😂😂😂
What would they think of today eh? they'd be horrified at this world
Jack, a funny world is here in full swing 2024

Eeee Annie love.😆🥰
Just watched an episode from late 70's and Albert Tatlock is exactly the same 😂
Is thete rite ma lad eeeh by gum..
Lol Minnie crying, Martha comparing Valerie to 'Our Lilly' and Ena sat there bored stiff!!!😂😂😂
Emily: "I love a wedding... watching them I mean"
Ena:" life is for the living. If I was you I would get in that back room with him and do a bit of nittin" hahahahahaha naughty Mrs Sharples 🤣
Imagine these four together (sadly it never happened) Ena, Minnie, Martha and Hilda! 😂😂😂😂
Alexander Jones they killed Martha off to bring in ogdens which was a big mistake
It is a shame that Martha died just 2 months before Hilda arrived. But as said, Martha was axed to make way for the Ogden's.
They are the reverse of see no evil speak no evil hear no evil..
That hat ena has on looks like it's been in a dust bin😅😅😅😅
this is a first episode to have a familiar theme intro
Gypsey- Philly. Whats that? Wheres our David, Kens brother?
Annie said, “Val has no mother” it was Vals parents that took in Vals children after her demise.Duh.....
Corinne Woolley That was explained in Albert's speech. Valerie's mother was ill and couldn't get there.
I can still smell the coal fires burning.
Florrie saying about her husband’s family emigrating to Canada. Isn’t that where she goes when she leaves?
Weddings brings back some horrible memories for me - no one told me you didnt boil the rice - i dont think they ever really forgave me
I remember ( from a later episode) Jack Duckworth's opinion on weddings.
'Weddings always bring me out in a cold sweat. Mind, I did 'ave a traumatic experience at a wedding once."
"Why? What happened?"
"Our Vera said 'yes'."
Did we ever see Lilly and Wilf? Weren’t they in it shortly after Martha died?
Yes they were in Martha's house after her death talking about the ''junk'' accumulated.
Yes. Not the most pleasant of people. A brief cameo after she died 😢.
Love Annie playing drunk !
23:26 Mrs Walker IS tied. Cant even walk straight.❤❤❤❤❤

My Mum had one, it was to cut the rind off back bacon before cooking. You didn't use them for anything else as they're so greasy.
Wow I'd forgotten about bacon scissors! I can see them now..they were covered In grease and smelt
Ena Sharples was wicked.
1:32 Egads!!! Ina Sharples sister 😂😂😂😂😂
13:46 Val looks a picture!❤
Who's Ken's best man, Michael? The only 'Michael' I remember was Mike Baldwin!
Think it was his brother.
Alison Grace Think his brother was David....
@@JackieKay11 Ken's brother is David. He's a football player.
@ Elizabeth Ross-Watson Thanks for the confirmation that I was right 👍 Cheers for that 😀
@Janette Webster How long ago did she come back, please? As I haven't watched it for donkey's years.

I was 2.
I don't remember Esther ! Who was she ? Did she play a significant role ?
Esther Hayes. She was in it quite a bit in the early days!
4:37 - - did someone trip up the camera man? Or was there a second's worth of Weatherfield earthquake??!!
