Ray Brooks doing Ray Brooks things.. looks like he's just filmed The Knack with Michael Crawford. Also I see Dennis has traded in his Elvis 'Duck's Arse' for a McCartney bob! Time's a changing..
Spider's white shirt looks a bit grayish brown. Luckily his jacket covers it all but his collar. Looks like his shirt had a collar. Did dress shirts always have collars? Or did they only have detached collars until a certain time in history?
Sorry for a belated reply, I'll try to answer your question: By the time Coronation Street started, detached collar shirts were rapidly disappearing from everyday life. There were a few stalwarts (usually elderly people) who held onto them into the 1960s and beyond for daily use but they weren't as common as they were in the preceding decades. There were still certain professions that mandated their use, such as the banking, stocktrading and legal professions and certain boarding schools but by and large, they weren't part of everyday life for most people anymore. Some did wear them for formal occasions though. Some of the younger people around at the time may never have even worn one (though when Ken Barlow married Valerie in the early 60s, he was seen to be struggling with a starched collar on his wedding day, Albert Tatlock needing to assist him). Hope this explanation was useful
Also what was Lucille doing coming into the Rover's Rest that morning? She didn't buy anything. Did she just want to brag that she had the £10 prize money to spend?
@@geenasmith7209 Her real Mom died when she was preteen. She had to live at an orphanage because her Dad worked and couldn't take care of her. She ran away one Christmas and came to her Dad. Then he decides to keep her around. (I think). Her Dad ended up marrying the waitress from the Rovers who was like family to Annie and Jack. The new couple her Dad and his new wife, started a family of their own and end up moving to Scotland, Lucille is a teen and doesn't want to leave her friends etc...So Annie and Jack end up taking her in to stay with them until she finishes school.

What does that mean regarding asking for fire lighters. Were grocery places not allowed to sell fire lighters? Arkwright's always had fire lighters in fact didn't Granville try to produce his own to sell, but it ended up that his fire lighters lit him?
Grief, that headscarf makes Lucille look at least Hilda Ogden’s age! Not a good look at your age, Lucille!
When it showed how Florrie must be hearing stuff in her mind, with Albert and Irma’s voices echoing unnaturally...
I know it was a different time and all that, but this seems like a completely different show to todays Corrie
A much better one from what I've seen.
Great episode, poor Florrie.
Magnificent. Thanks as always for posting
hi auntie thx for the good work i miss 156
How big's the car?! Stan, Hilda, Minnie, Ena, Irma, Charlie Moffat and his dog, Albert...
Cars were pretty big back then!
@Coronation Street Storyline Peter Susan why do you keep posting this comment?
One car on the road!!! You don't see that nowadays. AND the lamp posts look like question marks.
They were the old gas streetlights.
Ty so much for uploading these episodes great fan from nz here ❤

Florrie s meltdown, brilliant . Gave Betty Alberge a chance to shine. Great entertainment !
The Rovers’ Return is looking a bit different.
Poor Florrie.
What happen to her? Is she having a breakdown?
What happened to her why is she acting like that?
Same thing that happened to May Hardman before the series began ( but it was referred to). A nervous breakdown.
@@alexanderjones9572 ok thanks 🙏

Good job that didn't happen in episode one, when the police were checking they kept the laws by asking for fire lighters!
