I was actually at this concert. I was stationed in Giessen, Germany at the time with the U.S. Army. U2 was relatively up-and-coming at that time. They were only the second or third act to perform that day, but they (along with Joe Cocker) stole the show I believe.

The colours of his shirt were the colours of the Irish flag. He wanted to portray and express unity.
... and the roady at his feet had the "English Colours" during this Rockpalast conceet! Even as a German I understood both shirt colours (being a 19 y.o. German) in 1983 ...

I saw them once in Ottawa, first time in Canada for them touring ahead of their first album, so nobody knew who they were "some Irish band called You Too" didn't take long to realize that these kids are going places

Bono's German is not really good, lol, but I'm always impressed by him when he says something in the national language of the country he's staying at. Really cool dude. Is this the "Under a Blood Red Sky" Live album version? Sounds like it...5 songs, recorded on 20th of august 1983 at St.Goarshausen concert, are on that awesome album..one of my favourite U2-live albums. Cheers. Edd

@@gollycom This is the Under a Blood Red Sky album version. The guy Eddie is actually right. The video was recorded on Red Rocks, but they used this version for the LP.
