  • Lisa was 10 weeks pregnant when we started.
Yup you read that right. Lisa was 10 weeks pregnant when we started working together and her goal was to run a half marathon by the end of April. That would put her right at the beginning of her third trimester.
Having trained quite few women who became pregnant throughout the Pandemic, I was already familiar with the steps we needed to take to ensure that both mom and baby would be perfectly fine.
Our main goal was to make sure that her body felt 100% throughout the entire training program. Especially since the increase load thanks to a growing baby would put additional stress on her low back, hips, knees and ankles. All of her strength exercises were tailored to her muscle imbalances as well as her running gait. This was key.
The other big take away was the nutrition. Because Lisa was pregnant at the time of training, her nutrition mainly her protein intake needed to be high (almost double). This helped in making sure her recovery time was solid, her energy levels were up and that her muscles could handle the distance without fatiguing out.
She excelled beautifully. It was such an honor to assist her during this time and I look forward to helping her once she cleared to return to activity.
So you don’t just have to be a runner in order to work with me you may be an athlete or you may have passion for another sport. You’re just looking to figure out how to eliminate the pain quickly and get right back to your optimal performance.
