New FERRARI ROMA! My First Drive in the Best Grand Tourer

  • This is the brand new Ferrari Roma and my first drive to discover all about it! From getting behind the wheel for a road test, to running through the new dashboard and technology onboard, there's a lot to explore in Ferrari's new GT.
The Ferrari Roma instantly had an impact when it launched in the Italian capital that gave it the name, with looks inspired by the Ferraris of the 1960s like the 250 GT Lusso, and an interior featuring their brand new HMI with a 16" curved display, touch controls on for the steering wheel and a totally new feel onboard. Visually it's a distinct model with a new look front and rear, that of an incredibly stylish and elegant GT, and as they put it "understated luxury". This is best demonstrated by the fact the Roma is Ferrari's first ever new car launch to not wear the Scuderia Ferrari shields on the wings.
For the Roma, the 3.9l twin turbo V8 has been reworked and now produces 620hp and 760Nm, but now with the 8spd dual clutch gearbox that was created for the SF90 Stradale, offering 20% faster shift times, a shorter ratio for a more enjoyable experience, and saving weight in the process. Unlike the Portofino and GTC4Lusso, the Roma also gets a 5 stage Manettino including Race mode, which offers great sporty characteristics for road driving. There's no question that it's a GT with variable suspension that's exceptionally gentle in Comfort modes but also still fairly soft even in Race. However it also has a new tone, due to the work that's been done around the OPF which actually gives a very positive sound to enjoy.
Officially the Roma is a "2+" with back seats either for children or for additional luggage, a solution that works fairly well overall. It also brings the new style car key, mimicking the badge worn on the bonnet along with a lovely cabin feel with the new design.
In the Piedmontese region of Italy, we have the perfect roads to drive and explore with the Roma during Ferrari's global media drive event. After kicking off with a walkaround let's get on the road to experience it and take in all the details before running through the new systems onboard in more detail as well.

I would have liked this if I hadn’t seen the Superfast’s rear end. The Roma’s rear threw me off, but interior is nice

That START” touch button is so stupid. It feels like something Honda or Toyota would have. That alone drops the value of the car.

imagine using it with wet hands after being in the rain , one can only wonder how many functions accidentally get activated.

Yes, I like the car overall (not a fan of the taillights) but a v12 would really make it... also a manual, imagine if Ferrari brought back the manual shifter in this car.

Just i find it like the alfieri concept was from maseratti, maybe they did a bargain they got the v8 trofo engines and ferrari got the alfieri chasis and design.

    • @8coibaf

The Alfieri concept used a California chassis, despite Maserati declaring it was based on the granturismo.
