    I'm from Morgantown and the local high school used to make these in the cafeteria for lunch about once a month or so. Pepperoni roll day was always something to look forward to.

    The pepperoni roll was invented by Giuseppe "Joseph" Argiro at the Country Club Bakery in Fairmont, West Virginia, in 1927. My dad Enrico Trotta went to high school with Mr. Argiro's son - Frank "CHEECH" Argiro! He used to give us kids free ones as we visited Fairmont, West Virginia. They are the best - pepperoni rolls!
    We make them at home using my grandmother's bread & pizza recipe for the dough.

    When I moved away from the western PA, it’s not possible to find pepperoni rolls in the Pacific Northwest. I learned to make my own and modeled them after the rolls I used to get store-made at CoGo’s in Butler County, PA…sliced pepperoni with a little bit of mozzarella. “Chef’s kiss”

      Can’t understand why Pepperoni rolls are not a national thing. Love them with the mozz but like the hot pepper cheese better in them. Glad you still make them at home. We love pepperoni rolls and still eat them a lot. Thanks for the comment.😎😎

      It was very good . It was loaded with pepperoni and had more of that than bread.You can buy these at BP and up front by checkout at Sheetz .Buy the individual ones instead of bag . The bag of minis uses stick. Great deal for 2.19. Thanks Dave

    Oh how I miss Clarksburg, WV pepperoni rolls!!! My Dad was a retired coal miner! There was a grocery store back there, in Nutter Fort, who made the absolute best ones. I always got a big bag of them to bring back home. They used sliced pepperoni. They were big and fresh and now my mouth is watering for one!! Can't remember the name of that grocery store. It was just down from the old Greenbrier Motel & Restaurant. Same side of the road. They probably gone by now. Across the road from a pharmacy. This would have been in the early 2000's. I need to get back there one day before I die.

    • @jbinthehills
      @jbinthehills  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I worked at Food Lion In Nutter Fort back then and they made great Pepperoni rolls. I would eat them on break in the mornings when they were hot. Maybe that was the place. So many great places to eat them from around here it is hard to pick. Had them twice this week. Thanks for sharing your story and watching. We will eat one for you this week 👍

      @@jbinthehills Hey there! I enjoyed your video. It also made me miss my home a little bit. I left WV in 1988 but my dad and mom were born there and died there. It's been around 9 years since I've been back. Dad lived in Nutter Fort for 3 or 4 years. He shopped at that grocery store I can't remember the name. It wasn't Food lion, there was another store down from FL at the intersection that takes you over to the old hospital. Not a biggie, but your video has jogged my memory pool of people and places I knew in those years. I lived outside of Bridgeport & worked at Holiday Inn for many years before I left and got to know a lot of good people I had forgotten about. Oh ya, eat a couple of those pepperoni rolls for me! LOL Have a good one!
