I work at American Furniture Warehouse as an OTR driver.... Soon as we break down we get paid 25 bucks an hour no delay.... We have spare trucks for extended delays on repairs... If we run out of spare trucks we contact third party for rental trucks.... We get home every 6 days for 2 days... We also have our whole week pre-planned...love it here...
All the mega carriers are mostly the same, yes they have really nice trucks and all these supposed benefits and offer good CPM but there are about 1,000 other trucks in their fleet so youre gonna end up sitting around waiting on loads at least once a week or doing some short loads. It's best to find a small or mid sized company, even tho they might pay slightly lower CPM you are still gonna make more than with a mega carrier because you are not fighting for loads with a 1,000 other drivers. I work for a mid sized family owned company and I mostly do loads around 800 to 1000 miles every couple days.
No fridge i ain't going for that! Like i cook, i passion hate truck stop food and their price effectively enrages me , i intentionally stack up at walmart to avoid guving away my money to truck stops ✋️
I just left flatbed gotta be careful with them u can be wayyy over worked n underpaid , i believe defination of mega carrier is over 60 trucks or something
Bro this was my issue recently. Fleet manager had me pick up a load and it picked up the next day. Got there, of course wasn’t ready. Hit them up and say hey can I hit the terminal and get an air leak fixed on my truck it’s literally 30 minutes away. “Just wait for the load to be ready” I waited 6 hours and finally got loaded. Got to the terminal and took 23 hours to fix a hose that had broken off the fitting. Didn’t get paid for detention because they said I picked the load up early (no shit you told me to sit there) then didn’t get layover cause it wasn’t a full 24 hours. 30 hours wasted and didn’t get a dime. So I feel you. You think those incentives will cover your ass but it’s not as easy as they make it seem.
I got hired by them they were so unprofessional wen it was time to get the truck i turned it down n went with another company , i had a feeling they werent really tryna pay tht min pay gaurantee thts just a carrot for dummies
Doesn't matter what terminal , your Fleet managers what matters, I work at Marten and my first fleet manager sucked, screwed me out of my pay I switched Fleet managers and so far I've been getting everything I'm supposed to

How are things now ?
15 years in the industry with over 20 companies, all of them have bs local and otr, you just have to decide wich one you can deal with
I much did you take home after taxe??
The thing with mega companies. They advertise what you’ll make after 1 or 2 years
The need the drivers to join a union and negotiate with them..................

What's up Bro. Is Marten Transport a Forced Dispatch Trucking Company? Yes or No? Thanks for any Feedback. Stay safe out there Driver.
Yes… it’s no real reason to deny a load
@@GxbrielAlexander....You can deny a load based on Safety Issues, Etc. Never Risk Life & Limb For Any Load, Bro. It's Not Worth It.
They take your guaranteed pay if you deny
@@jarvisjones9530 naw you ain’t doing it right. You accept the load and then sit until the weather passes and get that weather pay 🤝🏾
