You are correct, a lot of us have a full time job to take care of. Just mess with it in spare time and don’t have the best of the best to work with. You’re doing a fantastic job, it’s going to come out beautiful . Keep videos coming, very helpful.
@@lonestarlows totally understand that situation man! You value your hobby so much you want impress the career professionals. I still practice patience in between coats,LoL. I wanna lay the smack down (clear) and call it day! This video really shows your growth at this craft sir! 👏 -Tejano 4 Life-
Man oh man I appreciate all of the insight and help you’ve given me through your channel. I keep going on my 62 SS and come back to your videos for motivation. Thank you sir👍
Thanks for the tips. Just painted the 64 Labor day weekend, came out decent but I just finished sanding the clear with 600 and getting ready to clear again, hopefully next weekend. The trunk had to much trash so I took it off and going to sand it and clear it while its hanging vertically. Your paint job came out great!
Thank you for sharing your experiences and tips i love watching your videos very motivational for me im in the process of getting my 63 impala ready for paint right now so all the info helps out keep up the good work cant wait to see tbis 60 all back together goona be a clean ass chevy
I blow the entire shop out with my back pack leaf blower then hang my plsstic and hook my ventilation fans up. Mix my clear, then i wet the floor down i also wipe off my air hose (very important) that results in less dust nibs. A good spray gun that is quiet with minimal over spray is Devilbiss DV1 with intregol digital guage. I spray clear at 10psi with mine. Good gun like that will make a big difference in finished result.
That door looks sooooooooooooo good 🙂 You are right to find a product you like and keep working with it, not only for paint but a lot of other things. Sometimes you just have to keep trying until you figure it out so it works for you. It helps to have people that you Trust to talk to, so free advice is way off base so you have to do some thinking on your own. Plus the main factor is you want to do it and put some time into the process, very hard to find the time as I well know.
Great job lonestar. Will be doing the same preparation and paint process on my 63 and like you said you don't need expensive equipment to get the great results. 😀✌️👍
Orange peel can always be wet sanded down and re-cleared? Correct? Wastes material, but hey, if you are learning ... i knew a body guy who had a small piece of a file glued to a little block of wood that he would work any runs with. He was great, so that tool didn't see much use, but he wasn't perfect.
Thanks a lot for your info I am sure that is my problem a lot with vertical panels I need to up the psi an yes on flat panels I want to lay it so thick I have been getting solvent pop KEEP UP THE EXCELLENT WORK 🦾💯

Dude, I hear you ... been there. I started praying before I done a job . It eased my mind. Nervousness is a good teacher.
Hell I got nervous this morning when I recleared the shell. I had to take a moment and slow my heart rate down lol

Yep. I had never float coated anything other than small parts due to mishaps

Thanks Ed. There's so many variables in the equation I like to stick to what I know. I'm sure there are faster more efficient ways to do things

Looking good brother yup backyard bogie;) god bless
Good video I definitely struggle with orange peel
Hope it helps!
But also know that there is no such thing as a show finish out the gun. Everything needs to be sanded for a truly flat show finish

Orange peel is kind of part of the process. If anyone says they can spray clear with absolutely zero texture or peel, they are lying.
How long did you wait to re clear?awesome video
About 3 weeks
