One of my favorite memories, when I was a kid, was when we’d go to the “N.E. side” (anyone who grew up black in *Portland Oregon* in the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s know’s what I’m talkin’ about) 😉 to visit family and I kid you not, there would always be 4 or 5 of those cats sittin around, laughing, drinking, and reminiscing.
A couple would be smoking cigars with my Auntie screaming “get that nasty smelling thing outta the house!” He’d always say, “Woman (think Scatman Caruthers when you read this) it’s hot outside, you crazy if you think I’m going out there today!” His friends (who also all dressed just like him) started laughing and saying stuff like “Man it looks like you’re sleeping on the couch at my house tonight” then they’d all bust up laughing, someone else would say, “Watch, he’s gonna get up when she comes back out here to yell at him again.
The only reason he didn’t leave this time is because she didn’t hear the ‘Woman’ part. Watch, any minute now”. Then Uncle “June Bug” would say, “I wish she’d come back out here. That way I can show you FOOLS who’s the man of the house here!” Auntie would go back in the living room to *REALLY SHOW* who the head of the house was! Boy I haven’t seen 5 old guys move so fast before in all of my life! They cracked me up, saying stuff like, “Your cooking sure do smell good Ma’am etc” as they were running for the front door!🤣 I was sitting in the kitchen watching my Auntie cook. When she came back in, we both cracked up laughing.
I miss them and those days. Every one of those guys could dance so smooth, they dressed fly (I LOVED the way they dressed, still do), and could have you laughing in 2 minutes flat no matter what mood you were in. Seeing this video brought back some good memories! I miss those days. Thank you for giving these guys their props! They deserve it. It’s hard to look and act this fly all the time!
