When I first saw she wore Marilyn Monroe’s dress, I didn’t care too much and thought people were being dramatic. However, when I learned that the dress was made specifically for her, literally sewn onto her to fit every curve of her body, and made to match her exact skin tone, my whole opinion changed. It wasn’t just some random dress, it was for Marilyn only, and to even dare to wear that dress seems very entitled to me.

@@CathyS_Bx Ripleys isn’t a museum and doesn’t have to adhere to museum laws. Garments in museum collections are not to be worn because every time you wear something there is damage to the garment, not to mention the light bleaching. That’s why nobody wore gilded age clothing. It exists, it would just be against regulation to wear. Ripleys made a poor decision allowing her to wear that and lost their chance at ever becoming an accredited museum, something they tried to do several times in the past. It’s definitely causing a lot of waves in the historical community and many fashion conservationists have spoken about it. i know it’s “just fabric” but that’s a $10 million dress that was last worn by MM. now it’s last worn by KK…it’s been stretched out, probably missing crystals and it’s been stepped on. it’s fine if you don’t care but some people do because she literally destroyed an artefact.

Some people like to believe that emotional value doesn't exist but when enough people find it emotionally valuable they'll pay millions for it and it will turn into real value.. that dress was sawn right onto Marilyn while she was completely nude beneath, it might sound stupid to some but to hardcore fans they would find emotional value in the fact that the dress was littered with Marilyn's DNA, I feel like Kim wearing it is an emotional molestation in a sense. Not to mention it looks really bad with her skincolor and figure

Luckily, I'm recovered enough not to take action based on it, but I know there are so many people out there with eating disorders and body insecurities who would have felt awful on hearing about her crash diet, and who would have acted on those feelings. Considering that the Kardashians have spoken out about having insecurities about their bodies and that all bodies are beautiful (although that does seem to be more of a sales schtick than anything), it's sickening that they continue to do these stupid diets and brag about it.

I have so much confidence in myself now, and this video made me realize that my healthy choices are lifelong, bc I took my time. I lost about 76 pounds over the course of 3 years just from walking and adopting a vegan lifestyle. I kicked it up a notch by doing dance workouts, and from there I started doing home weight lifting and my body has never looked better. I always say that if I had the money when I was younger I would've gotten so much plastic surgery, because I was so insecure. This is not judgement on anyone, I just can truly relate to feeling like man I'm not thin enough, I'm not pretty enough. Kim is gorgeous inside and out, I hope that she knows that as well, and anyone struggling I hope that you realize that you are gorgeous inside and out. Do whatever brings you peace and love whether that be exercise, or surgery. As long as it is done in a safe and healthy space.

That dress was made for Marilyn and Marilyn alone. It fit her like a glove 😍 the color against her skin tone married each other so well and it outlined her natural beauty like an unwritten poem.
That being said, Kim shouldn’t have worn it and like Lorry said, it wasn’t her best Met Gala look. She could of had someone recreate a similar dress but with a twist or a couple! It’s very disrespectful and wrong. If she truly was a Marilyn fan, she would have known and done her homework.

The dress was valuable because it was very provocative for the time, Marilyn wore it to an iconic event after which she died a few weeks later, and she was the last person to wear it. Not to mention, she wanted to be the only one to ever wear it, and it's sad her wishes weren't respected. Shame on Kim and shame on whoever allowed her to wear it.

I think it’s also interesting to compare body types that are trending through time periods. When Marilyn was considered an hourglass bombshell with a crazy figure, here comes the modern day Kardashian clan trying to outdo it by any means necessary, to the point where they just look cartoonish. Marilyn had her own surgeries done, but mostly on the face (rhinoplasty and possible eyelift), but her weight fluctuated and we were able to see her real body. Such a shame that Kim tried to stuff herself into this dress that completely didn’t fit her or match her skin tone.
