Great vid, Mikey! There’s lots of Value in your monthly service plan……pays for itself BEFORE the first service. You’ll do well with that. I love the way you interact with Peter. He is lucky to have a Boss that’s tutoring him in the Trade. I’m sure he appreciates the knowledge your giving more than he shows. He’s so quiet sometimes but when he does open up, it shows he knows what he is doing. You should be proud of his progress in such a short time…….Your going places Mikey, and he is the future of your Company! Continued success with business and Life!

@@PipeDoctor So, before my present Occupation, I did over 10 years in the Electrical trade. My Boss, like you , treated me like his Son. Although that man has passed, there isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t forget the love and support he showed me. You’ll do well. Mike…..Wear that “Master Plumber” title with pride…….it wasn’t given to you, it was EARNED!

I need more of these Mikey. I’m a gas furnace guy. One thing I love is taking them completely apart and brushing all the burners and sensors. I also if dirty will pull blower out. But on gas furnaces the blower is not as easy to remove then a heat pump. Great videos Mikey. Maybe Peter will start doing pms by himself next week lol

So basically if everything is working normally you just clean the flame sensor and clean the air filter?
Also I don’t have that humidifier. Is that something that’s usually found in dryer places?

In addition to what you do I,
blow and brush out the burners
check the back side for debris/corrosion
check inducer port for build up
    check the motor cap.
vac out the compartment if needed
    Wipe down exterior.
If they have ac. I use a bore cam to check the coil. (Recommend future service)

yes! I just serviced my furnace. removed the blowers and scrubbed them clean. Proactively replaced the blower cap (furnace is going 20 years now), igniter replaced.
I would expect a pressure check at the valve as well.

Was doing a PM on a newer version of the XB80 - the S8X1 or something like that. The furnace has just 1 large door panel and doesn't have a door switch. Was wondering if that was a mistake but it seems to be easier to service, as you don't need to hold down the switch while testing out the components. Any thoughts?

Hello. Great video. I live in an apartment and the gas furnace stops working during a power outage. Can I connect a vehicle battery or some other power source to the furnace so that it will run during power outage? Thanks

    • @OneLeggedTarantula
      @OneLeggedTarantula ปีที่แล้ว

yes and no. it is hard wired to the main electrical panel. If it where your house and you setup an OUTLET to plug your furnace into, then you can plug in a battery backed INVERTER (you need 110V A/C) to run the control board, thermostat, and blower motor. there are videos on youtube on how to do this. but you can't modify a rental apartment to do this, only the house you OWN.

Good ol 80%ers make me happy. So much more reliable. And if proper setup is done, you'll achieve much higher afue %. I always argue with people, btu rating is a btu rating. The furnace simply can not consume more fuel per the hour than a 90% plus efficient. And the temp rise are also the same 😝. Set your thermostat to 3 cycles per hour, no homeowner would see a difference on fuel bill. I tell customers all the time to stick with 80% plus furnaces, and two stage 80% save even more money.

total misinformation, 80% even perfectly tuned dumps 20% of the heat produced right up the stack. furnace's job is to replace heat that's lost, max btu input per hour does not predict energy consumption.
2-stage of same afue does not save energy compared to single stage, 2-stage is entirely for improved comfort.
condensing reliability is the same provided it is properly installed and maintained.
temp rise means nothing for efficiency and heat output if you don't know the cfm.
if you're in this industry, go back to school or find another job - don't know basic theory.
