    Keep up the great work educating people. I tell my tech to watch your videos. Always something in our business you learn. We do a lot of force air not to many boilers. Definitely no steam. Not many steam boilers in our area.

  • @consolidatedplumbingandhea4390
    @consolidatedplumbingandhea4390 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Ya, I took the class from the company that toured the country teaching CO testing. Some stuff was good but other things they told guys to do violated the UL rating. When you talk to technical support on these basic cast iron boilers. Minimum inlet pressure and as close to 3.5"wc is the prime setting. If your combustion analyzer shows you can do some efficiency adjustments, technical support will say 3.5 is more important. So long as the manifold is set and co is not unstable or over 400ppm they have nothing else to say on the matter. I have had some issues and they said 3" even was the absolute limit but it was a case-by-case issue.

    just something I was told by an old timer in the 90s. we were working on a commercial gas fired unit that had no gas flow. Water had accumulated in the gas line. It was lacking a drip leg. He said had the 6" drip leg been installed, the gas flow would have been ok. HOWEVER..... he also noted these were being phased out because gas has become much dryer over the years. In years past it wasnt uncommon to have condensate in piping. Many would disconnect the piping and stop gas meter charges and reconnect in the fall for free, thereby saving money. Just food for thought. This was in NH.

    I have a broc water heater, and the manual says not to put anything on the treds of the anoid rod. It needs to make contact with the metal surface to work properly. Teflon tape will prevent the proper contact to the aloud rod.

I would like to suggest you in the tuneup for fresh customer.i would be check the heat change from underneath with a mirror or camera to see if any carbonizing start it. And me I would like to check my low water cut off when it’s running make sure when it gets dry even though the lights come on I want to see if the gas was shut off that’s it but everything else was very very nice. Thank you.!!!

    Thank you so much for the information. I am finishing up residential HVAC school in the twin cities area of MN and what I have learned from my textbook and my professor is that steam boilers are commercial/industrial. It was very eye opening to me that they are used in residential as well. Do you need a boiler license to work on residential units where you live?

    Mikey Pipes: if the automatic water feeder gets stuck in the ON position ; the boiler will fill up, but how could it fill the upstairs radiators too? wouldn't the water come out of the pressure relive valve and only flood the basement ? That was my experience recently .

    I've watched this video a few times because I have the same unit. But I still can't figure out how to drain the water and the manual is useless. Where is the drain valve on the boiler? I also want to clean the sight glass but I don't know how to do that.
    edit: I think I know now where the drain valve is supposed to go. It looks as if someone removed it.
