      @AgentBri_ish the pitches aren't too high pitched like the previous gen 2000s units, 334s/333s/E-stars and 2010 hitachis, these are slightly lower pitch in sound (but low pitch frequencies doesemt nesseccerilly mean better, i guess it depends on the train) it sort of matches the lower powered thyristor sound of the BRUSH 465s (which are amazing) they also sound like copenhagen metro which i can link you. Anyway , i assume its low powered, because modern trains are designed with power efficiency in mind and minimal power with maximum output it would seem.., well with the potential to use less power and operate fast is what I mean.

    Never get on these after you've had a drink! I took one from Rainhill to Lime Street after a few hours in the pub (Very early on in the pandemic when restrictions were not in place). I've never felt so disoriented in all my life, the acceleration is great!

      Depends were you looking, the majority of the 331/1 have mover over into the east. Most stations on the west coast are only big enough for 6 carriages hence the switch to 2x 331/0s

    • @lordparma7556
      @lordparma7556 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      They have replaced the Class 321s and Class 322, as well as displaced Class 319s on some routes allowing 319s to be used on other routes routes on the Northern network.

    • @AnubhabKundu

      The sister class of the Class 331s known as class 195s, have replaced the Pacer family (142, 143, 144 classes respectively).

    • @journeysofjames1116

    • @lordparma7556
      @lordparma7556 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Both the 397 and the 331s are from the Civity family, are made by CAF and were built at the same time, so they use the same traction motors, hence why the 331s and 397s sound the same.

    • @slavoslav9175
      @slavoslav9175 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Imo, the fronts of the 331/195 look better than the majority of newly delivered trains, like the 777s.

    • @bb-3653
      @bb-3653 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@slavoslav9175 yeah true , better than the 720s for sure. 777s are okay, but I don't like how the emergency cab door is on the side. But i guess it's for functional reasons. Even so it's ugly to me.
      I'd prefer these if they looked more like the class 196s
      Either way older rolling stocks look better tbh. Electorstars. 350s 319s, 321s esspecially and so on.
      But the new train fronts I like that aren't High speed are the desiro citys, the and the class 730s to me their the exception.

    Does northern have any speeds beyond 75mph

    • @lordparma7556
      @lordparma7556 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, Northern’s entire EMU fleet can reach speeds of over 75MPH.
      Class 319 100MPH
      Class 323s 90MPH
      Class 331s 100MPH
      Class 333s 100MPH (333s will never reach 100MPH due to line speeds of 90MPH.)
      In terms of Northern’s DMUs
      Class 158 90MPH
      Class 170/4 100MPH
      Class 195 100MPH

    • @bb-3653
      @bb-3653 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@lordparma7556 oh no, I meant like the line speed. Apparently their limited to 75mph so the 90 to 100mph trains cant really "breathe" so to speak.

    • @lordparma7556
      @lordparma7556 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@bb-3653 Not all lines the 331s operate on are restricted to 75MPH, some lines allow speeds of up to 100MPH for non tilting trains.
      Not sure what determines line speed, but I know it has nothing to do with “not giving 90-100 mph trains time to breathe” Might have something to do with tight corners or something. Only thing I know that effects line speed is points.
