Tissot just delivers so much value in so many of its models. This watch combines “mass market appeal”, as Teddy put it, with old world elegance, and one of the best movements available at any price, let alone under $1000. And that case back is just pure old-fashioned class. Not a Roman numeral fan, but everything else is spot-on.

I love this piece for all of the reasons you mentioned, except I LOVE the Roman numerals it's what drew me to this one in particular.

Such an incredible watch and not "just for the money" an incredible watch period.

Many people seem to appreciate the dials on the Le Locle models, which are certainly nice for the price, but I actually find the case even more impressive. You have to invest quite a bit more money to get even remotely similar level of finishing and detailing. Especially the vertical brushing on the sides and the way the lugs meet the case are particularly nice. Of course it's all machined and there isn't anything hand made about these watches, but I wonder if some of the design choices are conscious nods to Lange(!)

I have this watch in a silver/white dial for about 14 years now. It looks like Tissot has pretty much kept the same look, even the same bracelet. The only thing that has changed is the movement, which was an ETA 2824, now a Powermatic, and the price, which went up from $400 to $600.
IMO, this watch really comes into its own on a strap, and I recommend anyone who gets this watch to move it over to a quality strap, as the bracelet isn't the best.
I wouldn't say the watch is an all rounder, but it can be a nice every day watch for someone who wears a suit a couple of times per week. I used to wear mine more, but frankly, these days I tend to wear my Seiko Presage or Seiko 5 SRPE more as those watches are better all rounders, while the Le Locle is more of a dressy watch.

An absolute beauty for a traditionalist and in that price range! It is a joy to wear and accurate for a mechanical watch. That movement is occasionally certified as a chronometer, though such certificates are individual and not a guarantee for every watch. My le locle is currently 11s fast in 16 days of regular wear.

Bought this with a black face from a 2nd hand dealer this weekend. The steel strap had been adjusted and was too small for me so I haggled a little and we settled at £265. My second automatic watch, with the first being a limited edition one from Christopher Ward (Swiss made, British design) which features day/date on a cream face.
My question for existing owners is whether to get a black leather or a new stainless strap and whether to stick with OEM or are there better straps out there?

I just bought this watch - silver dial on black leather. I wanted an affordable dress watch from a reliable brand, and this fit the bill. I have to admit that it was not love at first sight. The watch seemed small at first despite it's slightly more traditional dimensions for a dress watch. Considering that I don't have a large wrist, this seemed odd to me. There seems to have been a recent push by watch enthusiasts and makers alike to embrace more traditional watch sizes - Make 36mm Great Again! Ultimately, I think my brain just needed time adjust to the size, especially because my every day watch is a 42.5mm diver.
The strap isn't great. It wasn't comfortable out of the box, and the case would actually float above my wrist. A few days in my watch winder strapped tightly to a firm pillow helped a lot though. The clasp feels a bit dainty, but this is again compared to the rugged clasp on my daily driver. I think I could get used to it. I think if you could pick this up for around $350 (on leather), it's worth it.

Wait... did they mess up the roman number 4? It should be IV and not IIII, or are Tissot doing this on purpose?

You are correct to my knowledge. The Roman 4 is IV

Nearly all watch makers, including Longines, Omega, Rolex, etc., use IIII to represent 4. It’s pretty standard to clearly distinguish 4 from 6 (in Roman numerals) at different angles.

Teddy, your pronunciations of guilloche and Le Locle need work . . .

Tissot is not the same anymore - the movement on this watch has plastic parts (escapement) - Tissot is making cheapo crap and wants your $$$ as it is not a chip watch.

As a Tissot le locle owner.. I do love it, But.. But.. I'd rather have the smoother second hand sweep of 28,800.. not the 80 hour power reserve. Plus close the case back and up the water restansince.. I have 50 cheap watches... Bulova automatic. I'm worried that when it breaks, I might as well buy a new watch

Not all versions of the Powermatic use the materials you refer to, just the ones based on the ETA CO7.111. And it's not plastic. The pallet fork and escape wheel are made of a synthetic composite that creates less friction and impact during the impulse and locking phase of the escapement. This avoids, wear and tear and the need to often lubricate the part. This movement has been in use for years and has proven no less durable than those not using synthetic composite for those parts. You'll find synthetics inside other Swatch brands as well, such as Omega.

Do you realize that the plastic pallet fork and escapement wheel offers benefits? It's naturally self lubricating, less wear, and anti-magnetic? The rest of the movement is the same 2824 movement with even more improvements such as Silicon hairspring as well. Stop listening to what click baiting TH-camrs have to say about the movement. The powermatic 80 has been made since 2013. If the plastic part was so bad, they wouldn't have placed it in their best selling watches...that would be a warranty repair nightmare and costly to the brand. Can you even find and name a single case of this plastic part failing? I have looked and could not find any review/case of the plastic part failing. If anything, all Powermatic 80 owners seem happy and the movement seems as reliable and consistent as ever.

So I purchased this watch and I must say I am definitely unimpressed. The bracelet feels like it’s made of plastic. I like the look of the watch and the face. I just need to figure out if I can take the bracelet off and replace it. I must confess that I am new to watches and I started with a metal G Shock and then purchased a Longines that I absolutely love!!! This feels like it came out of a Cracker Jack box compared to those watches. Hopefully I can put a high quality leather strap on it and then I will love it.

Update. I received a strap that I ordered from Tissot from the watch reference number. It came with a tool and it won’t take the cheap bracelet off. Looks like it doesn’t come off. So essentially the watch is trash. I can’t put it on my wrist without immediately thinking of how cheap it feels. If this watch is any testament of Tissot as a brand I will never purchase anything from them again. I may throw the watch in the trash at this point.

As of this whole situation. I watched this video before purchasing the watch and it was a huge reason I bought it. I’m pretty concerned that you would promote something this horrible and I watch all your videos and respect your opinion. But that watch is horrible.

I found the same thing when I went and looked at this watch in person. The bracelet was the biggest disappointment for me. Ended up leaving the store with a Tissot Gentleman instead. Tissot seems to be hit and miss with their products. I certainly would not shy away from their products though. Based on my experience, I would suggest looking at their watches in person if possible. The Tissot Gentleman blew me away compared to the Le Locle

Shrink it to 36mm and get rid of the Roman numerals; then you might have something I could wear.

I held the white dial Le Locle at Tissot shop at an airport in Amsterdam. I was so glad I did. I was so disappointed. It was so light and felt like a cheap hollow knock off watch. I put it back and said no thank you.

There's no such thing as a "dress watch" or a casual "sports watch." I wear any dam watch with whatever clothes I want and I could give two SH*TS what anyone thinks. A watch is a dam watch...its an instrument to tell the darn time. Since when did watches become symbols of formal wear or casual wear when the bottom line is they are to be used to tell the dam time and some even the date??? Sheesh!
