    I’m not sure why but this watch hooked me the second I saw a picture of it. I picked one up (blue dial with the leather strap) and frankly I’m stunned by it. It’s got a gorgeous dial with perfect dimensions for my average-sized wrist. Wearability is very comfortable on the wrist, and so far it’s accurate to within a second a day. This is admittedly my first mechanical watch above the sub-$300 entry level. Two weeks in I’m still completely in love with it and I don’t regret the decision even a little.

    • @terryhons1895
      @terryhons1895 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I really want a Tissot gentleman but the 40mm combined with that lug to lug width makes it impossible for me to pull it off. Unfortunately I don't think they would go for a 37mm. Maybe if the original was 42mm then it would've been possible but 37-38mm is too close to 40mm.

    I have a soft spot for Tissot in my heart as it was the first "proper" watch I owned when I scored my first job. Now I've been eager to own another Tissot and between this, the PRX and the Gentleman, it's hard to decide, but the Chemin Des Tourrelles is quickly winning me over!

  • @EdVanMeyer
    @EdVanMeyer ปีที่แล้ว +2

    The blue dial is a real winner and for a sub 1000 cost watch it is in the right place. I would go for a 42mm personally, with Tissot coming under the oversight of Swatch group as does Longines, you can see that this is positioned in the marketplace for those who can't go to the Longines on cost but still get a quality Swiss watch for a great competitive price. I think that the movement could have more decoration and certainly some moon phase and Chrono options would make this appeal more widely. I can see Longines styling here but at a more pocket friendly price. You would not be afraid to wear this watch which is the whole point of enjoining it.

    I wonder when Tissot, Hamilton, Longines etc are going to realise that this type of dress/casual watch almost always looks best when it's smaller than 38mm, even on a larger wrist. Look at a vintage Seamaster and you will immediately admit that it looks far classier than today's oversized dials. Hopefully we can expect a return to 36mm as the standard, as shown by the popularity of the 35mm PRX.

    I hope Tissot is reading this.. I love many of their designs, I think they represent great value and would purchase them again if they would stop printing "POWERMATIC 80" on all of the dials.. 80 hours is a great power reserve, and it's automatic, I get it. Anyone else or is it just me? The year of the company's founding on the dial, awesome, Chemin des Tourelles, cool, date at 6, nice balance. Who is this basic information in a made up word for? If you bought it, you know what it is. The sweep seconds should let anyone else who cares know that it's an automatic. Although for some reason I have no issue with 'superlative chronometer, officially certified' lol...

    I wasn't expecting a Tissot design to make me look up. Actually, this does! The case profile is very attractive and the combined finishing on the dial furniture is quite convincing. The biggest thing against it is argually that it is a no-nonsense watch from a somewhat boring and middle-of-the-road brand, but the design is balanced and refined in a way that other Tissot's, including the popular, are not. The dots and colour remind me a little of the Oris James Morrison, which I do think is more standout handsome still. It also gets away with its contrasty white date window, especially because it is placed just right in relation to the indices. However, I ordered in a Tissot once (lady's watch), and was sufficiently underwhelmed with its refinement, proportions, and overall quality assurance and material choices that I sent it right back. In your video, I immediately noticed an odd and for me disturbing imperfection on the seconds hand. I guess this worry is what is likely to keep me away from Tissot.

    I am torn between the Chemin des Tourelles and the Hamilton Khaki Field Automatic (with the silver dial). Both are about the same case diameter, both are autos with hacking second hand, exhibition case back, leather strap, both have Swiss movements, and both are suitable as dress watches and as casual watches. I might be leaning toward the Hamilton for its military heritage (I'm a veteran) and Lancaster origins (I live in Southeast PA).
