I once was sitting across from a Natalya signing in the west Edmonton mall, her husband was with her. When she was done with the line, there were 2 young girls nearby where the end of the line had been. Natalya asked them if they wanted anything signed, they said they were poor and didn't have anything. She took one of her new T-shirts and a new cap from her husband's bag, signed them, gave the shirt and cap to those kids and then took a picture with both kids for free. Natalya made those poor kids feel like a million dollars. Their mom then showed up in a wheel chair. Natalya must be good people.

I was working a con in Louisville for Half Price Books years ago, and it turned out Jim had a table. I walked up to him to buy a shirt and told him I was a big fan, and he retorted “Finally, I got one!” Probably the most gracious way I’ve ever heard someone say “Yah, no shit.” A great memory.

I met Undertaker a few years ago at a sports bar and it was $200 to get a photo with him and get autographs, but the catch was there wasn't a limit on how many things you could get signed. The line took forever because some people brought multiple items and some of them likely ended up on eBay. One person brought a bunch of urns to get signed 🤦

I got an autograph from Kurt Angle at a local comic con last year and he could not have been more appreciative or thoughtful about the whole thing. He shook my hand, made sure he addressed me by name, and even thought hard about what color sharpie would look best on the DVD I wanted signed. And all for a flat, reasonable price. It might be easy for me to say as I'll never be in that position but I wouldn't appear at an event in which fans were getting gauged by promoters. Taker is a big enough star to call the shots, he's never going to get cancelled by a promoter for putting his foot down. It reflects poorly upon him that he doesn't seem to care.
At the same time the fans have to take some of the blame for being willing to get fleeced for the sake of an autograph. Cons are literally that.

That's the only thing I actually agree with about the whole part of that clip, so as someone who's into collecting guitar gear, there would be loads of vintage gear sellers out there who would move mountains to follow musicians with signature guitars to conventions like the one in the clip so they could take them and charge massive premiums to resell on the used markets, especially if you could also snag a selfie or picture as well at the event with Gene. I get why someone would be like "I'm not gonna sign that".

Say what you want about Hogan, but when I met him at his Orlando shop for a meet/greet/signing, he didn't rush anyone and listened to everyone's childhood stories and seemed genuinely interested for everyone in line. Also, it was HIS idea to sign my childhood HH toy on one leg and sign "HOF 05" on the other. His handler wanted to upcharge me because my item wasn't a picture, but he said "no way brother...I'm signing this for him". He did this because this was my actual childhood 12" HH figure with belt and cloth shirt...and NOT a brand new one still in the box like other people had (probably intended for eB@y). Man things have changed. I remember as kid in Florida I saw Hulk Hogan at random places a couple times. Me being a massive 12 year old mark went and asked him for an autograph not even having anything for him to sign. So he signed his receipt from the store and gave it to me. I ran into him when me and my friends were riding out bike near bubba the love sponges old night club, and when we went up to them marking out bubba offered to let us play video games for an hour in his "teen night club" it we took some boxes out for him, Hulk signed stuff for us and talked for a long time. Same with Randy Savage, I saw out at a restaurant with my parents, they wouldn't let me go bother him while he was eating but he saw me marking out and walked over and signed a paper the waitress brought over for me. Now people have to pay hundreds of dollars for autographs? Man the world sucks these days.

The last wrestling event I went to was a local promotion in my area. Each summer they would usually bring in a big name. Usually either a former wrestler or an active wrestler that had been in the WWF/E.
On this particular occasion they had Arn Anderson, the enforcer himself! My friends and I were stoked, we were all huge Arn fans. We bought the "meet n greet tickets which cost $50+ (general tickets were around $20. At any event I had been to prior, the meet in greet tickets got you the chance to meet and talk to the wrestler/legend, an autograph and picture taken with them. It's basically the whole reason for paying extra for the meet n greet ticket.
We got to the arena and there's Arn sitting at a little table and a line of fans waiting to meet him. We got in the line with our pictures that we were going to get signed. Then word makes its way down the line that Arn is charging $20 per for an autograph or picture.
We said F that and got out of the line. So instead of meeting Arn, the three of us took a selfie doing the Four Horsemen salute with Arn in the background.

Jim was awesome when I met him at ROH in 2009. One of the first autograph experiences I did and set the bar really high. Unfortunately, Jim is more the exception than the norm with these signings. Plenty of wrestling personalities will just shut you down after you say hello and move you along. The best ones to meet along with Jim were Chavo, Abyss, Shane Douglas, Scott Hall, Hacksaw, Al Snow, and Dustin. Some have been radically different from one year to another. Bret and Nash fit that the most. One year they won’t stop talking to us and at a different signing years later they didn’t wanna say a word. Or vice versa in Bret’s case. I’m not sure if anyone here has met Russo, but he was talking about a signing he did with Ed where he was trying to rush everyone along and Ed would take time with them and he was freaking out that they’d never get through the line. Russo seems to make a lot of panic-driven decisions. But it really says a lot about him that it didn’t cross his mind to give the fans the experience they wanted.

I won tickets to a Rob Zombie concert in 2004. 3 days before the show, the radio station calls me and tells me I was chosen to also take part in a meet & greet before the concert. I got a picture with him, a little chat, and had him sign copies of his first two movies.
After that, I was on the phone with my then girlfriend and he walked by. I told him she loved him but couldn't be there that night, asked if there was any way he could say hi to her? He nods his head and says "walk with me; what's your girl's name?" He was cool as shit.

I got to meet Hacksaw Jim Duggan at a signing in Glens Falls, NY in 2010. It was in a little sports/pop culture shop in the Aviation Mall and you could hear Hacksaw yelling "HHOOOOOOOOO!!!" from one end of the mall to the other. He was absolutely there for the fans and loving every second of it. He talked and made a personal connection with every person in line. My dad was supposed to be there with me but had to leave early for a sleep study. Hacksaw was his favorite wrestler as a kid and when I told Hacksaw about it, he agreed to call my dad from my cell phone after everyone else left just to say hi and tell him thanks for being a fan. They say not to meet your heroes, but I don't think any of them knew about Hacksaw.

He had a broken leg at the time it was just after his fued with Kane where he got injured and Lita “married” Kane. I always thought Matt was a great guy after that he was really nice to us asked us questions and everything. It was a hot ass day too one guy passed out in line and needed paramedics.

91 would be his rookie card, has to be already worth a good amount in good condition. Probably don’t want to triple the price of it by adding his autograph for 200$ or possibly be liable damaging it while signing it, not sure if you can be held accountable for that while someone is willing to let you sign it but that could be a reason.

I thought that was ridiculous to charge like that, especially when kids are going to be pressuring their parents for a photo, but $25 is nothing compared to $230.

The same rules apply at Fan Expo Dallas and Ric Flair is doing the same thing. They are both signing for a certain agency which makes me think these are the agency's rules and not 'Taker's or Flair's. Any other time they've signed outside this agency, they've been fine with signing anything.

    • @GenGamesUniverse
      @GenGamesUniverse 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Unfortunately it is; it's a case of the agents negotiate set prices and how many days that person is gonna be there. Then when all cash has been handed over, the agents get about 10-25% depending on who is the agent and then the rest goes to the guest who's been signing.
So for example, you had Ernie Hudson come into your comic con and sign for three days straight at say $50 a piece and say 2500 people come up and get his autograph or a photo with him, that's around $12,500. The agent could come in and say "I'll take twenty five percent", that would mean that the agent for his duties for those days would get around roughly $3,125 and Ernie Hudson would walk away with $9375

I’m wondering if it’s because of people just bringing random ticket stubs from wwe shows they were at weather he was on the card or not. He couldn’t possibly remember every show he ever wrestled at and maybe they don’t want his signature ending up on tickets for shows he wasn’t in. I can see the eBay listing saying “rare undertaker autograph for show he didn’t wrestle in ***super rare***” and the date of the show and place. Idiots trying to drive up the price of something artificially that would be otherwise a signature on a random item. Just a thought but I’d bet the guy below talking about the Tyson autographs is more on the money. All the grading and auctioning and shit are done by the same people to drive up the price of everything.
