i thought it was a moustache at first, but remember my dad was carrying nose plugs on his army uniform as he worked around toxic chemicals from labs in the clinics where he worked as a dentist.
While Canada during Maple Flag one of our jet's EPU went off while at EOR waiting to take off I think to come home. That was back in 2000 I was with the 4th FS 388th FW 12th AF.
As a reference to how toxic this stuff is: The active poison in the fungus Gyromitra esculenta is monomethylhydrazine and consuming just one of these fungi or even taking a bite from one not properly prepared can be fatal and I bet one of these contains as most no more then maybee a few miligrams of the stuff.
That would be MMH, which is the really nasty stuff they also use in rockets. This is hydrazine hydrate, although still only 30% water, it's supposedly less toxic/bioactive. Don't get me wrong, where I work there is the hydrate stuff that's 80% water and there is no way anyone is getting close to a spill without a breather and a pressure suit.
Wow! I remember watching this very video back in the day. Holy crap, thanks for uploading this.
Always report to "guy in the van"
A.K.A the Ramp Rat
If u run across this toxic substance, call maintenance for cleanup. if maintenance doesn't answer, call the fire department...that escalated quickly
This is the same reason portobello mushrooms need to be thoroughly cooked.
Love how back in the 90’s, plugging your nose was part of the training.

If you smell Hydrazine, good luck.

3.4k while I'm typing this, be back at 5 million.
50’ area only? Nope it was 350 feet cordoned off area.
How can one design a device with such hazardous risks. This stuff is nasty.
