Yum... Thank You Cheryl for all u do for ur viewers. We enjoy watching as u make it look so easy n delish. U also show us a bit of Scotland, which makes my heart happy. 😍. God bless u n ur family. Stay healthy n safe. From Minnesota to u, many many thanks. 💖
For those in the USA, .I'd use CRISCO SHORTENING and TOPSIDE BEEF as good substitutes for ATORA SUET and BRAISING STEAK and TOMATO PUREE is just simply TOMATO PASTE ,in the US I would use HUNTS or CENTO.................. Scot back home in Scotland now after 16 years in the US
Now, these are the type of dumplings I grew up eating! And loving! Here, in the US, there are so many regional variations of what folks call dumplings.
I really did not you could cook dumplings in a slow cooker... my family just loves them.... so thank you very much.... in South Africa it's mid winter.... and these stew dishes are just perfect ideas...
All these slow cooker recipes have convinced me to dig out my own slow cooker soon. We aren't big meat eaters in our house, but I can always increase the veg, and decrease the meat. We don't seem to use suet for much here in the U.S., but putting out for birds in the winter. I hope to fix one of your recipes and post a photo on instagram. Always great to see Jasper. 😺
beef stew and dumplings was my nanas specialty. i can still taste how delicious it was. its been absolute years since iv had them think i might have to give them a try this weekend. xx
Wow!! This is going to be tried out in our slow cooker this Sunday. Looks absolutely delicious, thank you for posting this. Love Jasper too, he looks gorgeous. x
I’ve never heard of suet before watching your channel, but have looked it up online. Making your shortbread cookies this morning, as they are absolutely delicious! Thanks for you awesome meal ideas and yummy recipes.
I am glad you like the BTB. As you know from IG I have been steaming some eggs in an Asian custard sort of fashion. It is just 4 eggs and some chicken broth about 3/4 of a cup. The BTB makes it so easy and there is no waste and no 3/4 full container of broth in the fridge that I end up throwing out sometimes.
That looks absolutely delicious! We had a specialty market open near me (southeastern US) that carried goods from Europe and they probably had the suet. Unfortunately they had to close when the virus hit. I’d never have thought to put horseradish in dumplings. That would be good with that stew. When it comes to carrots, I’ll eat them however they come, lol. One of my favorite snacks is baby carrots with peanut butter. It’s really good. Give Jasper a wee kiss on top of his head for me. He’s such a handsome boy.
I'm going to make this with some Moose steak I have, I think it will be delicious with the red wine. Thanks for all the great videos, I make your pies all the time now, cheers!
Hello Cheryl, thank you for your beef stew recipe. We cook something very similar here in Germany. It is called Rindergulasch. I am using a slow cooker now for 5 years and I love it. I heard about it on american cooking channels (You Tube) the first time. It is almost unknown in my country. Bye now:-D
@@SherryGrey1434 I like horseradish much more than hot sauce. Especially in a hot and spicy Bloody Mary with Old Bay seafood seasoning to go with Oysters Rockefeller. I'm an east coast Virginia USA gal. Chesapeake Bay just down the road.
I know we have lard, but I'll look for suet next time I'm shopping. We love horseradish here. I've never heard of putting it into a dough, though. You should have heard me sigh as Jasper appeared. I could hear him thinking, "that was hard work watching you make that, now it's lap time for me!"
I thought I had some beef in my freezer, so I got everything ready to try this recipe - only, oh dear, no beef at all! But, wait a bit, what's this? Oh, I'd got some KANGAROO steak, so I used that instead! It's very similar to beef but very low in cholesterol, and it tasted very nice too! Just goes to show, we poor wee folk Down Under can think fast under pressure!
I can almost smell it as well. This is on my trying-out-soon-list. The Dutch kitchen doesn't know dumplings, but these aren't as daunting as the Austrian ones. I'm not scared to try them.
Regular stovetop time would be approx how long? I will add potato, peas and a couple of chilis! I think when you add red wine, it then becomes 'beef bourguignon'! Thanks for the dumpling recipe, I absolutely am in love with horseradish, it tastes amazing-the stronger, the better-but it also has many health benefits! When you inhale it, it clears your sinuses too!
I love horseradish with my beef, and putting it into the dumplings is a genius idea. That sounds delicious!! 😋😋 Please give Jasper a little scritch under the chin for me. 😻
Yummy yum yum. We can’t get suet here in Australia anymore , so I just make my dumplings without it (just water, flour and thyme). How long do you leave them dumplings in to cook?
I am having deja vu about this question but if I were to freeze this in portion sizes would it be better to make the Dumplings at the time of re-heating?
They are easy. It is almost the same recipe as for shortcrust pastry with added herbs but a little wetter and just drop tablespoons full into the pot about 50 minutes before serving.

I love this stew. Going to make it soon. I’ve made it before, it is a real winter winner.

I made this today and it was delicious! We made corn bread instead of dumplings. Great weekend meal with Guinness to drink!
Another terrific recipe! You make it so easy to make! ❤🇦🇺
I can't wait to try this... it looks amazing. I've never used lard or suet type items.. but I'm all in for trying something new
I always use Atora vegetable suet and they come out great.
Oh, gosh, I'm so hungry! I love soft carrots. JASPER! You beautiful boy! Love to see you 🐱😸
Jasper fan club! 😽

This looks delish! Love horseradish

I've a sneaking suspicion that moose-steak would be pretty hard to find here in Scotland. Is it a bit like venison Kari?
Thanks so much for more delicious tucker and the accent
Wow nice vlog Cheryl

I love horseradish never thought to include in a dumpling, thanks for the idea. Move over Julia Child.
There’s something about horseradish I just don’t like. I wish I did like it! It looks so good😆

Kidney beans or just kidneys. Eww.
Nobody really likes horseradish, mustard or olives
You can't be serious. Those are three of my favorite things, and judging from my local grocery store, I'm not the only one.
What you really mean is that you don't like them 😂😂😂😂. My family and I do though!
Nooooo lol I love horseradish & mustard!
U have to keep eating olives until u like them
If you don't like regular mustard, please try honey mustard, it's delicious!
