I know the feeling I played AC:Syndicate on potato mode at 1fps on my old pc. The entire game. Twice. I was a hardcore teenager.
It felt wrong to play the game with good graphics and 60fps on my new pc.
Im positive that turning the texture quality one notch higher sets the GPU on fire.

The "1" setting was probably a planned "Ultra low" setting that they scrapped. The reason some things take so long to pop in and some don't is probably just because they don't have their ultra low models - except for the few that do and hence don't pop in.
That's my theory anyway.

Back in the day, I played Subnautica on an old Mac laptop. Looked a little like this. I averaged around 11 FPS but managed to enjoy 45 hours before finally upgrading to an actual gaming rig. Good memories though. This video brings out a lot of them.

Imagine going to the void/abyss and exploring for the first time and you can't see the ghost Leviathans in potato mode ,but you can still hear them roar , and stuff.. plus the place is just hella dark , makes you wonder what kind of creatures are actually in that place.

The Last Bacon mods (custom battery’s) on nexus the battery is as useful as it sounds. XD I also made one called atomic I think it has 20000 power maybe more
The Last Bacon oh and you want to get past the void teleport thing use the scanner room camera I have a mod that lets me change the distance they can go.

Great video 👍 keep it up. I always love your Subnautica contents. This brings me back, I used to have a potato laptop and needs this kind of setting to have stable 60fps. Now I have a somewhat powerful pc to enjoy Subnautica's beauty on max setting without trouble.

2:17 your GPU, Nvidia GTX 1070 Max-Q. Are u using a laptop? cuz I'm pretty sure Max-Q architecture only comes on laptop, for thermal reason.
