I not too long ago got a x230 and I love it. Recently did the Classic Keyboard Mod and installed Coreboot and its great. All thats really left to do with it is install an IPS screen.
brother I am a tech guy and I am a teenager I was surfing on the OLX for a good laptop then I found a unknown laptop of Lenovo the Wi-Fi was not working so it was dead cheap I live in Pakistan so the price was around 35$ the laptop was x230t i7 and the condition was 10/10 the Wi-Fi problem was just a switch that comes with USB port that comes in older thinkpads I have upgraded the laptop to 2TB (1tb sata and 1tb msata) ram 16gb and done the BIOS MODDED Btw My x230t is i7
For non-Nvidia machines like this X230, it's swaywm with Waybar. This setup closely mimics (and improves a little on) the i3wm with i3status setup on my machines with Nvidia GPU. You can find more details here: github.com/myterminal/dotfiles.

Thankfully, I covered a lot with this purchase and it came with an IPS screen.
Sold my x230 last year after using it for almost 6 years. That thing was built like a tank.
It surely is!
Awesome Video Brother, i daily drive the following Thinkpads.......T500, T520, T540p, T430 and X201, all run Linux !
That's a great collection!

Cool! These machines are highly underrated for sure.
The only thing that bothers me on my x230 is the screen. I have gotten used to 1080p resolution
Yeah, that's one thing we have to deal with, and the other is battery consumption.
what is your desktop environment and status bar?

X230 just makes me feel good. Sad that I kept bricking motherboard with attempting bios mods and usb C charging
I've decided to stay away from mods as long as I can, and enjoy the machine as it was intended to be used.
hands down my favourite ever laptop is the ThinkPad X230: if i could get a modern Mobo w/ TB3 and swap into x230, i sincerely would!
I was hesitant to move away from the X220, but then when I did, I didn't quite miss it.
@myTerminal fair enuf. I've got an x220 + x230 & x230T, they all have different charms etc
@@TechDave big fan sir
