- Version with commentary: • Banjo-Kazooie Minimum ...
This demonstration shows the game being beaten in the minimum amount of moves from Bottles - 5 out of 18 - including tutorial moves from Spiral Mountain. This run is on the US version for additional difficulty (although no additional moves). This is 3-4 moves less than the theoretical best for runs without tool assistance.
The five moves collected are high jump, feathery flap, beak buster, eggs, and flight. Among many other things, the first two are the best way to reach the lair with the broken bridge, beak buster is needed to raise the water level in the Lair, and eggs and flight are needed to beat Gruntilda. Most notable moves skipped are talon trot, flap flip, shock spring jump, diving, beak bomb, climbing, and rat-a-tat rap.
As is standard in modern Banjo tool-assisted demonstrations, position microadjustment codes were used to help with float clips/resets - everything shown here is possible without them, but they cut many months off the process of creating this.
"You didn't learn all of Mumbo's Mountain's moves! You won't get far without them..."
(the sound of Kazooie repeatedly cawing fades away as Banjo somehow moonwalks up a wall)
Meanwhile Grunty: What are you doing you stupid bear,
You're supposed to get the jiggies, this is not fair!
Really interesting that the spring pads don't check if you have the move if they assume you already have it... I would have assumed that every one in the game was running the same code.
The Banjo Kazooie decompilation would give insight into why it works like that, if only it wasn't so incomplete. Hardly makes sense why Rare devs did this unless it fixed some weird bug
The movement in this LOTAD is sick. 💙🐝
somehow gruntilda fell off the edge despite not being near the edge of the tower at all
It's a shame that the bee can't shoot that red thing from Banjo-Tooie
Is the bridge still broken if you were to play after the credits ? Really good Tas btw, it was super enjoyable !
This is really cool, I love see a TASbot do crazy stuff like jumping up the slopes
Is there gonna be a commentated version and/or stream somewhere?
Yup! www.twitch.tv/videos/1211398194
Here's a temporary past broadcast of the stream, and it probably will go away in a week. There will be a more permanent link later that I'll add to the video.
Does opening note doors count as a move?
I didn't count it, but there is decent ground to argue it should. On the US version, which this run was done on, it makes no difference anyways since you don't have an option to skip it. On the PAL version you could skip it if you wanted to count it, but it would result in a route that is mostly just the any% route.
Why tf would it?
@@fgfhjfhjfbhfghf5771 As you approach the first note door, Bottles pops out of the nearby mole hill to explain how they work. If you avoid this trigger, you can't open note doors.
@@RingRush WOOOOW. So even if you bypass the 50 Note Door Molehill & then collect a total of 180 notes, you’re *STILL* not allowed to open the 180 Note Door because Bottles never explained how?!
