I know this video's 3 years old, but here's a comment on the "But I can do this on my laptop" thing.
That literally means... you have to buy a 500$ console AND an at minimum 500$ Laptop, or to get a laptop that's actually worth a damned, closer to 800 to 1000$ to do editing and such. That's disregarding the other uses for a graphics card on a PC. I know this is all about "gaming" performance, but some people have other hobbies asides from gaming. I started a new one, 3D animation. And let me tell you, the GPU I chose is a god-send for this type of work load. Made upgrades to my PC specifically to enhance my experiences to 3D animation.
So while yes... you can replicate the experiences of PC with a console + a decent laptop... you cannot match the full experience of having a powerful gaming PC. It's like I always say, choice is scary to console fanatics...

The equivalent gpu of ps5 is rtx 2070, but that doesn't mean ps5 has rtx 2070 performance. Far from it. If you look at pure fps in games at 1080p medium settings, because that's the settings the ps5 plays most games at then even the gtx 1080ti gets more fps than a ps5 in most games and it's not even close, I mean 1080ti gets way more than 120 fps in most games at 1080p medium.

11:36 Instead of spending $500 for a laptop, and spending $500 for a console(and the $120 or whatever for a year subscription to simply unblock your internet for gaming), I could spend $1000 and get a decent gaming laptop, assuming you NEED a laptop for some legitimate purpose, like taking it to uni/work whatever, rather then just having it static on your desk, in which case you're always better off with a full desktop PC, if you buy a laptop because it is trendy, or for the simple "idea" of it behind portable, without any actual need for a portable PC, you're an idiot.
The laptop I looked at btw, has a Ryzen 7 CPU, with an RTX 2060, which looking at benchmarks, achieves 62.3 FPS in Cyberpunk 2077 at 1080p medium settings, and that is with DLSS OFF, if you turned DLSS on you could run at higher settings/resolution and maintain 60 FPS.
Or you could build a desktop for the same price and easily run loops around the above laptop(and next gen consoles)
14:05 Linus recently did a video, made a $580 build with 4+ year old hardware, had a GTX 1070, and for as close to the same visuals, achieved 4k 60 FPS on the PC, matching the Series X pretty damn closely, yes, the GTX 1070 doesn't have raytracing, but based on the performance of the superior version of AMDs GPU included in both next gen consoles, the RX 6800/RX 6800 XT/RX 6900, don't expect raytracing on the consoles to get anywhere near what PC has in that regard.
And again, that was a build meant to match the price of the console, spend a little bit more to get an RTX card(or an AMD RX 6000 series if you don't care about raytracing or DLSS), and you already have a far superior system, so much for your "DOUBLE THE PRICE" BS...unless of course, you try to get a gaming laptop, then, yeah, expect to pay double the price, but if you JUST buy the laptop, instead of buying a laptop and a console, you can actually save money, as I stated above.
15:15 I think one mistake console gamers who get PCs make, is assuming console games are running on max visual settings, and so when they build a PC that "matches the console", they end up disappointed because the Xbox One X can do "4k 60FPS", but when they try, they run the game at max settings in 4k, and then come to the conclusion their PC is weaker because they are not getting 60 FPS.
If you match the settings of the console version, you will get very similar performance with equivalent hardware on PC, of course, it will never be 100% equivalent, because consoles are custom built, and they can cut some corners here and there in order to save money, but still provide "decent" gaming performance.
Another thing a lot of people misunderstand is the importance of the CPU, I feel a lot of people overspend on this for a gaming PC, CPU is less important for simply playing games, take a look at some CPU gaming benchmarks sometime, you will see the difference between a current gen low end CPU and high end CPU is negligible, yet the price difference is hundreds of dollars.
Not only that, higher price isn't always better performance, I was just looking at benchmarks for a very CPU heavy game.
    Intels CPUS(10000 series) range from $262 (80FPS) to $464 (98FPS), AMD CPUs range from $299 (Ryzen 5 5600X, 154FPS) to $549 (Ryzen 9 5900X, 148FPS).
But then if you look at most games, take Red Dead Redemption 2 for example, 1080p Max settings(higher resolution only makes the CPU less important):
Lowest FPS is an Intel Core I5-10600K($262) at 90 FPS
Highest FPS is an Intel Core i9-10850K($464) at 95.4 FPS
Would you really spend $200 more for 5 FPS? Especially when you're already at 90 FPS.
Just as a comparison, at 8k minimum settings:
Lowest, Intel Core i5-10600K($262): 30.5 FPS
Highest, Intel Core i9-10850K($464): 32.8 FPS
Now, for GPUs, the GPU used in the CPU benchmarks above, was the RTX 2080 Ti, using the same game, at 4k Ultra:
    RTX 2080 Ti($999 RRP): 56.8 FPS
    RTX 3080($699 RRP): 72.2 FPS
    RTX 3070($499 RRP): 54.3 FPS
So now for around $200 more, we go from 54.3 FPS to 72.2 FPS, so if I go with the cheaper CPU option, saving $200, and put that $200 into the GPU instead, I am going to have a MUCH better time with gaming for the same price.
Education and research man, do it, and if you are completely clueless, ask someone, we aren't all asses, plenty are willing to help.
15:40 Correct, I have a GTX 1080 Ti, I built my PC in 2018 just a few months before the RTX series was announced, so my GPU is 4 year old hardware, the RTX 3060 Ti and RTX 3070 just....is not worth the upgrade in general performance for me, sure I would get raytracing and DLSS, and that alone is pretty tempting, but the 80% of the time I am not using those features, the performance boost I just don't see as being worth it.
I don't just need to justify the price difference between my current card and new card, I have to justify the entire price of the new card, it is much easier justifying paying "$699" for a significant performance boost, over "$499" for a small performance boost, or "$399"(RTX 3060 Ti) for an even smaller performance boost, and there is no way to justify "$1499" for the RTX 3090, at least not for gaming.
Edit: Oh I forgot to add what my main point was, I am likely to wait for the RTX 40 series, or AMD equivalent if they catch up on raytracing performance, so I can totally understand not upgrading yet from an RTX 20 series.
19:10 Honestly, while I am sure 120 FPS makes some kind of small difference for consoles, I highly doubt most console gamers would even notice going from 60 -> 120 FPS, because the controllers, believe it or not, are less sensitive to framerate issues, because they are not as precise as a mouse.
Even a casual gamer like me, pushed down settings in Overwatch, to go from 4k 80FPS to 4k 120+ FPS, because I could actually feel the difference with mouse aiming, even at a fairly smooth 80 FPS, granted it also depends on the game, but the point is, controllers are less sensitive to input latency.
21:45 I appreciate that consoles, as baseline hardware, will now support raytracing, that means greater adoption of raytracing moving forwards, however, as I covered previously, raytracing is going to be MINIMAL on consoles.
    23:47 Exactly.
24:12 Hell no, fuck Epic, but especially fuck Apple, PC gamers overwhelmingly, do not buy Macs, according to the Steam Hardware survey, 3.44% of all steam users are running OSX, with 95.65% of users running Windows. Now, some of that windows percentage is Mac users who Bootcamp into windows for gaming, that is much harder to gage, but I guarantee there is probably more linux gamers then people who do that(0.91% of all Steam users run some form of linux).
25:00 I mean...there is Steams Big Screen mode....which I would argue is far superior...because you can even customize your controller layout within it, while using a controller, per game, among other things.
And before someone(if anyone has bothered reading this mammoth comment to this point) mention about other things like Netflix or TH-cam etc, firstly, Steam has a full web browser, and also, you can add any app directly to Steam, to be launched and managed by Steam...I personally haven't done something like that, so I don't know if Steam allows the controller to be used in those apps, but you can certainly launch it with Steam, and the xbox controller home button can be used to pull yourself back into big picture mode.(And you can map that feature to other controllers)
