That machine is changing your life and recharging your brand. ♥️
I think so too!❤
Labels seem easier...I don't think I would choose the engraving. Nope, not me. Go for it, sista.
Yes, they definitely are!
I was getting scared for your sleeves 😂 The jars turned out really nice
Thank you!!! I was too 😂
I love that you stay creative with your products and business💚 I am of the mind that you have done all the work to be your own boss why not love what you do and do what you want. Thank you for sharing the process. It’s inspiring!
Thank you so much! It’s very true! People can get caught up on how a business should look and forget you can do with your time what you want☺️
Hi Jerika, I too have been experimenting with glass engraving using the xTool F1. I have found a different way of doing it prior to filling the glass jars with the candle wax. I pour some black acrylic paint into the empty jar and roll it around until it covers the inside surface, I pour off any surplus into the next jar and repeat. Once I have done this I then set aside the jars to dry on a radiator. Once they have dried I then follow the same process as you to engrave the jars with product info, logos etc. using the F1. The difference is that my jars are engraved on the inside and the outer surface remains smooth and shiny. I thought I'd pass it on in case you wanted to try it for yourself. Thank you for your video.
Being creative with my skincare brand is EVERYTHING. My clients / target market greatly appreciate the time & creativity I put into their products! ❤
All of the colors of these candles looks so beautiful and they make me smile when I see all of the beautiful colors as well you did a beautiful job God bless you!❤🎉
Thank you so much!
The labels turned out super cute !!! I love them !
Thank you!
It's great to experiment with new things! They turned out so cute! Thanks for sharing. :)
Thanks so much! 😊
Aaah, looks great!
Glad you think so! ☺️
Omg thats so cool. Love it
Me too! The results are amazing!
Awesome! Thanks Jerika
You’re welcome! 😊
I love how creative you are getting with this machine! Definitely putting it to use. I have to say that so far, I think the black lids have been the most chic and best looking results out of all these experiments! It's insane how good they look. Also glad to see you back in the candle game! I haven't seen candle content in a while and as a candle maker myself it always makes me smile to see yours!
Yep! Candles are coming back! We’re still running tests on these and playing with designs so it might still be awhile yet. Such is the way with candle making lol 😅
I have had great success with Chalk Board Paint. Consistent coat application and easy to wash off.
Very cool!!! I actually like the way it looks with the paint still on. 🙂
This was my same thought LOl 😅
They came out nice
Thank you!
Thanks for sharing with us!
My pleasure!
When I first saw you working with this tool, this is exactly what popped into my head for how I'd want to use it. My husband and I had just been talking about how to elevate our branding, labels have always been a sore spot for us (just never quite right) and we wanted to do some sort of etching like this, then I saw your first video for this and knew it was possible. I've been hoping to see you attempt this, especially after seeing you do the lids. Definitely on the investment list (just had a baby, literally yesterday, so business stuff is on a hiatus at the moment 😅).
Very cool custom labels Jerika,! When you are ready plug the rotary accessory in it will keep the letters on the far edges sharp. The logo on the lids look amazing and the jar etching is almost there, a few more tweaks and you will have it dialed in perfectly. Having your branding on your custom made products is critical and separates you from everyone else! Thank you for experimenting, it was a very informative video!
I’m impressed with your vocabulary. 👍
They look really nice! I haven’t tried candles yet may put it in the list of things to do. Finally formulated my goat milk lotion and have to get that figured out first. Really enjoy your videos Jerika ❤️
Wonderful! That sounds so lovely, a goats milk lotion ❤️
I think it looks really cool, especially with the colorful waxes…. But does the etching not weaken the glass?
I have done a lot of power burn testing on these laser etched jars and all have burned down without an issue. That being said, etching glass is marking it - even if it’s outside, it’s something to consider for sure.
Thank you for sharing.❤
No problem 😊
Kudos for creativity. I would wonder about the integrity of the glass with regards to burning a candle. Would it mess with the it enough to cause an issue with the glass's ability to hold up to heat? Will insurance still cover it since the glass has been altered? These are the things my paranoid brain asks me when I want to be creative.😭
love the lids they look amazing. I always love seeing what you create and i think someone else said the lids set you apart from many others. PS i also thought if using black cardstock inside the jars would cut down the time and cost a little ? Love and Light Sarah from the UK (England)
It looks amazing! Would it be possible to put black paper inside the jar before filling them with any product? Will the laser be able to pick up the reflection this way ? That would make this process so much easier 😊 This way you could fill them after the engraving?
Hi! Really great to see your ideas and best of luck! :))) I would probably just get/make some kind of stencil that had a square cut out. So you could just put on the stencil on the jar - one, you would not need to wash off so much excess and two, you could use the roller liberally with paint and not worry about a mess everywhere.
You are really making me thinking bout getting this.. and I got a whole lot of nephew and niece's who can paint the jars lol but also could you put a piece of paper to block it or will it catch fire
lol the painting part was calming and fun! ❤
I wonder if some type of thin masking tape would work -- it would certainly be easier than painting the jars. I've been eyeing laser engraver for a while, but I went for a Bambu Lab P1P 3D printer and I print molds to make embed molds, bath bomb molds, soap stamps, etc. I love that all these tools exist and gives us endless possibilities 😊😊
I have some masking tape on deck and will definitely be experimenting with it. I love all of these tools too! The possibilities are truly endless!
way to go!
Woohoo! ❤
This lasering is so cool. I've been looking at it for other things since seeing your first laser video. I just need the money to buy one lol
Ya the cost is something to think about for sure! But I do love it a lot… it’s just a ton of fun.
Amazing! Very good. You can put the link of the acrylic tint? Tks😊
Thanks for the reminder! I put it In the description ☺️
Jerika, you’re amazing! These look great! Maybe try using a dark duck tape in the inside
Yep! Lots of experiments are happening thanks to all of these awesome suggestions 😊
Oooohhhh the colors are beautiful……I am thinking that if you had some guide of stencil blocking out everything but the area that needs the coat of paint …..plus a brush that part of the process would move along faster……
Great idea!
What about using black jars ? Maybe it will take out the painting step I’m in Australia and black jars are the pick at the moment loving this tool 💕
for glass i like to use 2 layers of the paint, then i use power 100 /speed 60/ line per 100 i normally get very good marking on the glass with my F1 =)
Thanks for sharing! I’ll try those settings out!!
Can you use tape instead?
Oh wow!! I love them!! While I have absolutely no interest in making candles, I prefer buying candles without a sticker label if possible. I only light my candles in the evening (they are expensive to burn during the day lol), and I really like the night-time GLOW to be unobstructed.
This is so interesting. I’m wondering if you could something like blue painters tape instead of paint for a faster/less mess option?
Yes, I have the tape ready to try it out!! 😊
@@JerikaZimmerman I’ll be honest, I’ve been skeptical of the laser until this video. It blew my mind. I’m glad I’ve kept an open mind to the possibilities as you’ve done the different projects.
What if you try putting dark masking tape on the inside of the empty glass jars instead of painting them…would that work? Might be faster too.
I have never used a laser before but could you maybe put a black paper inside the glass to do your engraving?
What if you cut a piece of black construction paper and place inside the jars and laser them before you pour the candle instead of painting after they are poured. Just wondering if that would work.
Tempera paint is for porous materials and acrylic is better for metal and glass. I would be interested to see the difference between the two paints. Your edges may be more crisp overall.
Sometimes if we aren't looking for time efficiency I think it is nice to just remember our craft and try new things! The more "business" we become the more we can sometimes forget the joy of experimenting, playing, and enjoying our creations. :)
Yes yes yessss!!! Love this sentiment ❤
Good job! Maybe if you could use a sponge for a brush? Dab it on? They do sell craft paint at the dollar tree that’s quite inexpensive.
Great idea!! Thanks for the tip - I’ll have to try that!
Definitely needed a brush or a paint pen, it has more control. Also, you might want to look into getting a different paint that’s better for the laser. I have the S1 40W and the F1. They are solid machines! Your engrams did turn out pretty good for a first round though! 🤙
Thanks for the tips! I love the suggestions from other laser owning people. Will definitely give these suggestions a try!
If you engrave the jars before filling with the wax you could just put a piece of white paper or a colored construction paper inside the jar.
Jerika, I was thinking how about you paint the inside of the jar to see how that works out. that would be interesting to experiment with. 🤔
I was thinking this same thing. Especially if she is going to engrave before being filled. Also curious if black paper on the inside may work instead of painting. That would eliminate the need to wash them. 🤷♀️ of course I have no clue if that would even work. 😂
These are all amazing suggestions that I will 100% try!
Does it change the integrity of the jar / thin the glass and make it easier to break if heated to high by a flame?
This would be a concern and I don’t think it makes sense to create faults in the glass.
my many power burn tests in these jars have passed, and I’m still extensively testing. So yes, it’s something to consider for sure if you’re wanting to do this!
@@JerikaZimmerman that is awesome that you work so hard to follow all of the testing. Your creativity and hard work is wonderful to watch. Best to you!
I wonder if you use colored jars if it will show up without using paint..
Yes! I wonder too… thinking of trying with amber jars to see!
So couldnt you put black card stock in them before filling rather than painting
I’ll try this out and share my results!
Lettering looks better after you tweeted it
Agreed!
❤
It looks lovely but it seems very time consuming to do them one at a time. I would think it’s not super efficient. I love taking time to make things special and beautiful but I don’t think I’d try this unless it was for a special line or shower/wedding favor. And I too kept looking at your lovely sweater thinking oh no the paint!
Labels are super quick - that’s true!
The clear paint tray is a liner for the green tray it gives you the thin disposable liner but the rigidity of being able too roll the paint of the roller in the tray. I was looking through my fingers as your sleeves floated around near the paint 😂. Although the laser printing is to some time consuming, is it cheaper than having to pay for printed labels or for the ink and sticker paper if you print them yourself over and over again, after all once you have paid for the laser printer it’s really the cost of electricity that you have to pay for most of the printing you actually do. It’s really a case of what fits in with your style of manufacture and packaging .
Absolutely! There’s a million ways to do it, what makes sense to someone may not to someone else and that’s okay! I was definitely playing with fire painting with my outfit, but I made it out spot free! ❤😅
I would have ended up with those sleeves in everything with in 10mins 😂, you should see me baking brownies, no matter how big the apron or I wear gloves I still end up with cocoa staining or powder everywhere 😂 but I am assured it always tastes great so it’s worth it lol.
You could place black cardboard inside the empty jar. This would also save time. Love from Australia 🇦🇺 xx
I’ll have to give this a try!
Use cold galvanizing spray. Spray, engrave wipe off with water
Is the laser easy to use?
I found it very easy!
The editing kittens
Haha! Thought you guys would enjoy that!
looks good though
I think so too!
I think the clear trays are inserts for the green tray! So you can pull them out clean them and if they get cracked.....toss it out and use another clear tray into the green tray again! Labels are so much easier! This painting process takes way too long! In the time you painted and engraved you could have printed and placed the labels! Time is money!!
Yes labels are much quicker! Agreed
If candle is in jar it's then not clear. The laser should work without painting??
Hi Rebecca, the problem is that the laser is concentrated light. When light hits glass, it scatters. So the intensity of the laser is weakened. There is probably about 0.25 inches of glass before you reach the wax inside, so the color of the wax is not going to be very effective at reducing that effect.
I actually thought so too and tried - it didn’t etch at all! So I think atomic elf is correct 😅
Try cutting a piece of black paper to wrap around the inside of your jar and see if that works. It may save ya a ton of time instead of painting.
I’ve never done it, I’m just a soapmaker friend that follows you.
I think it's lovely, but if you get a flawed glass you could make it weaker perhaps.. and also making the glass jar a one time use... as people cannot take the lable off.. love the lids. Tho...
Very true! The one time use thing is something to think about!
If you did many of these, it would be easier to have a bucket of paint and just dip the face of the jar into the paint! Cuts your time dramatically
This is an amazing suggestion!! ❤
Maybe you could paint them while your watching TV in the evenings
Awesome suggestion!
This is my dream....
It’s fun!
Hmm while I like the idea however I think the labels would be the better route, as then the jars can be used for other things after the candle is used up, with etching permanently into the glass the jars can't be used by others or "recycled". Of course that is IF you care about a jar with a glass etching that isn't what you use it for after the candle is used up. paper labels seem just better for the "secondary market". OR would you be worried about someone reselling the jars filled with inferior ingredients as a unopened jerika original because unlike a paper label which degrades with use a etched "label" wouldn't and look pristine... Food for thought...
Absolutely! There’s a lot to weigh in on with etching. This is something to consider for sure!
😆😂😆 the dangly sleeves are probably not the best choice to paint with 😉
Right?! Not the best choice 😂
Tempera paint is washable with water acrylic paint dries and is not washable with water that is the reason why finger paint is tempra.
In my shop when we would do acrylic we would mask it off we wouldn't exactly weed we would actually just use rossignol the lighter fluid and that would remove the masking. It's all about time. You could stick with paint and I think or you could try masking it off.
For a single run they came out great and great for you that your experimenting. I would try a couple of things set them aside so you can revert back to them which would include more than one run.
All amazing suggestions, thank you! I’ll give this a try - awesome to know other bath and body companies are lasering things with success!
@@JerikaZimmerman I've been in the laser business for over 30 years now. My first laser cost $145,000 and took up the space of a two-car garage.
Wayyyyyyy too much work for a business that wants to expand. A laser is a nice to have but between the price of the laser and the amount of time it takes, nope. Good learning curve though. Maybe just do the lids?
Yeah, it takes time for sure! It’s not for everyone!
Seems too expensive and time consuming. I'll keep my labels.
Yep! That’s for sure a thing. Labels are much more simple to use .
Nope))
Yeah, it’s a lot of steps! 😂
Maybe for something special, but not on a normal basis…
Could you tape some black tissue to it and engrave through it? The result is beautiful but painting each one is sooooo much work! 🫣
Awesome suggestion! I need to try this!
It's great to experiment with new things! They turned out so cute! Thanks for sharing. :)
Thanks so much! 😊
