Second time my discovery sport wouldn’t start after sitting for a few days. First time I got a jump and bought a new battery. This time only a few weeks after new battery, tried your trick and started straight away. You saved us from being stranded on a bank holiday. Good Job!!!
Just happens to me. I really do not use your advise because didn't see it at that moment, but after 4 different times trying to solve the problem it worked. I test the battery, the keys batteries, everything was fine...just looking to turn it on finally it works. Every time you try you push the brakes and finally in works. Tip: The pedal was hard and high at first time. Good to know this situation. Thanks

Hi I had the same prob this afternoon. It has suddenly stopped running while I was driving, then i couldn’t start it at all. All the garages were shut for the weekend, I had to park my car on the road as I don’t have breakdown cover. Will this really help please as my Engine sign is on my dashboard too. Please help🙏
Yes just happened to me this morning didn't know how it got hard but pressed down hard on the pedal. Hope mechanically there nothing wrong but like to know why it happened 👍👍👍👍25/07/22

Just tried this and no joy...I'm 90kg and so put a reasonable amount of force on pedal 🙄. Fortunately I'm only stuck on the drive 😩 Sounds like a call out...
I haven’t really looked into before, but I guess the pressure sensor is looking for an certain amount of pressure increase to give the signal that you have you foot on the pedal. It’s not a binary on/off switch, more of an analog reading. This is a complete guess! So don’t quote me :-)
@@DipstickDave It is a binary on/off switch, in fact it's 2 switches in 1 unit. 1 being a push to make to activate the brake lights, and the other a push to break which is connected to the ABS module. All that is happening is that due to the vacuum in the servo being exhausted , normal pressure on the pedal doesn't push it down far enough to activate the brake switches.

So what causes brake pedal to go hard
For me, it was my kids pretending to drive and repeatedly pressing it. I think most people have had similar.
