Hi Jas lr - I have just rebuilt my discovery 3 2008, with a new reman engine, new turbo, hpfp, alternator and hundreds of parts. new crank sensor and magnet etc. I have a random fault showing crack sensor not in voltage. I cant start the car, If my mechanic uses easy start car will fire up first time and purr like a kitten. am i correct in thinking if the new crank sensor was faulty the car wouldnt start or run at all. top quality video to work out the fault
Nice video. A quick question. Looking at buying a discovery 3 hse which does not start. They say landrover specialist says its because of something in the dash. Im thinking bcm but if not that and they are right: what else could cause it
Thanks! but to answer your question literally 100 reasons unfortunately James - best bet is to find a good LR specialist and see what they think :) A good one...not a pretender! There are a few of those! Good luck with the purchase
So saying I buy it and have it sent to you and it is the IPC at fault. Likelyhood of it needing to be fixed by a guy over a new one is what? And if its the IPC what sort of bill might I get from you to solve it?
Hi I have a code u2023 on range rover sports 2.7 2007 and have a limp mode issue that iv had for long time and change d a lot off things that mechanics have told me and they have dune with no success so dont no where to turn to .the fault code is telling me its a voltage wrong going torqe .im not a mechanic so can you help plz im in essex thats
Mike 1960 it’s not a check really as such - more a kind of a process...the car comes in with a specific fault and we diagnose it from start to finish. We usually ask for a customer to authorise an hour of workshop time first, then call up if we need more time!
Please, please, please. Anyone, help. I have a 2011 Disco 4 HSE and it has been giving me endless issues with no one, not even the agents, being able to find the fault. The car suddenly says that it can't find the smart key (its not the battery in the key). If you then start it by holding the key beneath the steering column, it starts, but then when you drive, all weird electrical issues ensue. Suddenly the cameras wouldn't work, all the electronics on the centre console dies, indicators stop working, aircon stops, and the weirdest of all, the windows on the left side of the vehicle stops working. Then, for no reason, you hear a beep and everything is fine. 5 Minutes later it start all over again. The agents have replaces the body control unit, with no success. Any ideas. Hey Andre - sounds a lot like one of the CAN buses on the car keeps shutting down, probably the medium speed bus from what you've said...I'm guessing this is why they replaced the body controller. Sorry to say it but any module on that system or even a tiny wiring fault could cause it...we'd sort it out here no problem but we're a bit far away :)
@@joehodgy Thank you very much for the reply. It is appreciated. Can I just ask one further question? The previous owner had a second "house" battery hooked up to the system for overlanding etc. Would you say that could have been the cause of maybe a wiring issue?
@@joehodgy thanks, after engine rebuild, the ckp sensor gap was too small. Engine ran perfect up to 1100 rpm then would stall. After seeing your videos I was able to work out what was happening. Thankyou.
Hi I have a similar fault as the engine had been rebuilt but will stall when pressing the alternator. How can I check the sensor gap without stripping everything back down again. The special tool for the trigger wheel was used when installing a new trigger wheel. Also when the aux belt is fitted the engine will not start and come up with a crankshaft position fault but when it’s not installed it will start up fine.
What a piece of work!! Very, very nice indeed! I wish I could take my D3 all the way from Brazil to your shop!!! Thanks for this video!!!
Great work I bet that had your minds working overtime working that one out
I like the ones that make me think! :)
Boil everything down to things you know are true and then find a way to test everything else...!
Great detailed clip, 😊

Ok and thanks. So have you ever heard of a dash pod in these cars and it being the reason for a no start?
The ad says dash pod diagnosed by landi specialist
@@jamesbarratt593 yes - the IPC (instrument pack) forms part of the immobiliser, along with a number of other components and systems 👍

Can this happen when using the correct trigger wheel installation tool?
HIya Dan - no, if using the correct tool then the trigger wheel gets aligned perfectly every time :)
