    If you absolutely need a cross fader you can just plug a frisk fader and even hard mount it to the mixer. Just need two RCA to 1/8 jacks to plug into the session on the back of the mp2015. That's it!

    Lot of you guys don't understand rotary mixers were the mixers of choice of house Dj.s for many reasons. One the sound was flawless and smooth when you blended your music. You could control the level and keep your mix going at the same time unlike a fader which if you had two different levels from say like song was just mixed louder than another which happen a lot back then, on a fader it was just sound nasty but rotatory you could really control it and now one would be able to tell the difference also it saved a lot of clubs from blown speakers. Two they really were not meant for scratching but you can scratch on them it just takes a lot more practice and the way he was holding the knob he would never get any better scratches from it but it can be done. Three the high price for rotatory is pretty simple unlike faders that ware out over time rotatory mixers seem to last forever. In fact one of the reasons Urei went out of business and got bought out by Rane was that there mixers were so well built the rarely needed fixing. I had a Urei for over 20 years before it got stolen knobs don't splash so expect to have that mixer long after your favorite fader mixer has died. Also when I bought the Urei back in the late eighties I paid 2500 for it and that was considered a lot. The longest I recall having any fader mixer was may be 4 to 5 years before I had to get it repaired but that was old tech with the new faders may be they last longer but I'm sure with heavy scratching you'll be replacing it in a few years. So this mixer is a great investment especially if you like to do mix tapes your levels will always be on point. But you have to remember also every button and knob on this mixer is mappable so even if you don't have a effect that you like on there you can map it to the mixer so expansion of sorts is do able. But like they told me when I first learn to mix with rotatory your either going to love it or hate it but once you love it your going to find it hard to go back to faders. And they were right, loved it a lot and I didn't miss scratching at all thou every now and again I would do it on my rotary mixer just to show people I could still scratch. Cause it's like riding a bike once you know how you never forget.

      Do you think this mixer feels like the Urei. The mixer your talking about is amazing. It has a quiet smooth feel when you transition your mixes. Best mixer for sure. Jus wanted to know if you think this feels the same

    There must be something wrong with me. I prefer analog over digital any day. Being nearly 50 I'm having a rough time switching to digital. It does everything for you. I like hearing mistakes being corrected. I like figuring out the harmonics and the BPM of every record played. Not every mix needs to be perfect. How can you call yourself a DJ when all you carry is a laptop. My age is showing. I still love the music dearly esp real techno

      It sounds more like you don't quite understand it, yes digital *can* do a lot for you but only if you let it - it's more than possible to use a controller and not analyse your music and leave off sync (which at it's most basic only matches two bpm's) and beat match manually, fix mistakes on the fly and harmonic mix by ear

    I don't want to be that guy, but... The DJM 2000 does a lot of the stuff this mixer does, except for that it uses faders... Really cool mixer though :)

    Does the mixing on this feel like the old Rane rotary mixer, the one from the 80's

  • @Reticuli
    @Reticuli 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Years ago I said give me either 2ch with the offload/submix strip or a 3ch matrix. Too bad this doesn't have an actual 3-way crossover instead of just an isolator summed into a pair of stereo main outs. Obviously you wouldn't want frequency control, though, at least not accessible from the front, on a real crossover for the DJ to change.

    Lovely equipment!!
    If you don't mind I have a question:
    I have only 2 Turntables (Technics). No CD player, Midi Controller etc...
    Can I play regular vinyl as well as Digital vinyl back and forth from the turntables, WHITHOUT HAVING TO SWITCH the input (Phono/SP) on the back panel of the mixer?

    • @digitaldjtips
      @digitaldjtips  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, DVS systems (digital vinyl / timecode) can work via turntables plugged into the Phono inputs. You'll still need to switch the input via the software to tell it if you want to play a real record or control a music file via timecode - with some mixers this is possible via a switch on the mixer, definitely via the mouse, and possibly via a keyboard shortcut.

    Debating between Rane MP2015 and Xone 96. The only thing holding me back is this mixer is 5 years old.. is that a concern? I am hoping the internal soundcard stays updated for the future.

    There is some good feature on that mixer, and the sound is apparently really good, but why make something so awesome and miss the ergonomic point. Like the gain knob being the same size/color as the EQ knob, the lack of crossfader (scratching like it's 1985 is good, but limited).
    On a side Rane gave some new tools and fonction to improve the mix (and see it in a different way), like the submix part or the knob instead of fadder, but on the other side, this mixer don't allow using modern technique of mixing/scratching. It's like they tell to the DJ : "you are a house/techno DJ, so use that" or "you are a hip hop/turntablist DJ so use another mixer, like the Rane 62/TM57".
    It's like looking in the past instead of looking in the future. But looking in the past is a good thing, if it improve things. This is just a Traktor friendly oldschool mixer.
    They could do the same mixer, with some little option to give this mixer the opportunity to be more usuable for every kind of DJ (just add a crossfader, and the option to set the volume cruve on the knob, and make things more ergonomic instead of just make it beautiful).

      I recently bought a Traktor S2 Mk II and that's great for DJing with the iPad app (as long as you have space for it). I know someone who has the RX and it's super specky but I've recently converted to Traktor after using the X1 with Traktor for about 5-6 months before upgrading.

  • @bboymac84
