- If you are good with art and can free hand paint your helmet symbols, go for it! I'm not lucky enough to be good at painting, so this stencil method was best for me. Keep an eye out for my full 101st Airborne D-Day and gear setup video where I will show everything else that goes along with this helmet to make my paratrooper impression!

I’ll bet 80% of the folks into this did scale modelling when we were kids. It was the start of a life long passion for WW2 in general and for me collecting. Cheers.
Me
Yea your right I do scale modeling
i did do scale modelling too lol
@@Ehidkwhatchmacallitlol same 😂
loved models and collect helmets see civil war and ww2 reenactments
Thank you for showing the stencil process and the complete product. Its really impressive.
Thanks! I’m glad you enjoyed it
For some reason, I find your videos INCREDIBLY relaxing, I get lost in them and forget about everything else. So, thank you so much for making them, I really appreciate it.
Looks good. Usually model/miniature paint Is the best whenever decals on helmets. Helmets weren't issued with insignia they were done by the soldiers themselves so I wouldn't be worried if the insignia is a little off
Nice to see young men like you doing this. It gives me hope for our future.
I join them as well
See you at dday
Congratulations on 3k subs
That’s awesome! Thanks Chris, I’ll see you then!
Maybe a good Advice for next decals: Paint the first layer with the maincolor of the helmet. Let it dry like it was your first layer of white then go ahead with white. The Maincolor should now drip on the edges (like your first white layer) so you dont have to clean the edges. Used this Technic a lot in Wallpainting - always worked for me.
That's a real good job. Didn't there but when I was growing up?
I knew people that were my dad's friends that still had their helmets from a war too.
Excellent work, as much as we Reenactors want the perfect finish, they originally did it on mass and quickly. Good job 👍🏻 Living History U.K.
Thank you! You’re exactly right
Peelable vinyl is best for stencils as it’ll stick to surfaces but will be able to be peeled with no residue left on top
I’ve just joined a group over in the UK which portrays the 101st 502nd and was wondering the best way to paint the heart on the M1 and your video really helped. Thanks very much mate. All the best from the UK 👍🏻👍🏻
Honestly this my be my favorite TH-cam video
Happy to see that you used a brush to apply the hearts. So many people use spray paint. Witch is not correct. 👌 keep up the good work.
I feel so special to be the 1k subscriber...lol
It was at 999k and I've never had it turn on me until now. Headed to get lottery tickets to get more for the collection 😂
I am sure my father would have been proud of your work.
Nice ! I Am very proud of you !
My mom’s boyfriends dad was in the picture you showed with Eisenhower
Someone from crookston minn is also in that picture
For future paint jobs I’d recommend using masking tape as it isn’t as stick as duck tape which might ruin the helmet finish and is much easier to work with
Have you been to Normandy? I was in the 101st in 1984-87 & went in 2016. I met Dan McBride (502nd) and sang Blood of the Risers with Vince. Great trip!
Man. 😢 my great Grandpa was I. The 101st airborne and he had the square with the line above it.
He never got to jump...😢 because his plane was shot down and he didn't make it.😭
I went to Winnipeg for D-Day 50th anniversary 1994 with minnesota national guard. To give support for our Canadian friends. (I was active at the time. A very emotional time for the Canadians. Winnipeg units suffered many casualties in the war.. the old canadian colone who had been at D-dayl said to us. "To my American friends, what can I say, I called an you are here" we all said "hoo-ah"....
You did better than I could.
It's much easier do it with soft sponge ;)
Carry on !
502nd PIR Co B, my Uncles unit.

Oh. I was just wondering if ....Would you be interested to visit the Philippines in the future....WW2 places. Corregidor, Bataan, Fort Santiago and many more
I'm sure you will agree the M1 helmet is more attractive than the pasgt!🤪
Jman
People get super mad when they see some of the helmets, not realizing each unit had their own distinct symbol.
I wonder why you can't find helmets with original side markings. I couldn't even find them in the 60s.
❤
Helmnet!😳
Scrimshaw?🤔
Jman
That’s not testors that’s tamiya paint. Big difference brother 4:29
How do you determine the size and placement of the markings ? I'm looking to paint my helmet also and have no luck in finding exact measurements
Where did you learn where and how to reenactment?
I'm not sure how to camouflage that helmet when you see that video I know how to change the how to paint the helmet but I don't know how to camouflage the helmet to use for re-enacting
What were the measurements of the stencil you used to paint the helmet?
What is Skrim for?(I probably didn’t spell that right)
Do you know of any groups in the houston area?
im with fox company 502nd pir
Hey world war wisdom if I buy the paint from j Murray 1944 do I need to spray the whole helmet or can I use a paint brush? OD green. Would it look different if you use spray paint or a brush.
It works much better if you spray it on, but you might be able to apply it with a brush depending on what you are doing. If you don’t want to use a spray gun, I’d recommend buying an OD green paint that comes in a spray paint can from someone like Rapco or Hessen Antique.
@@WorldWarWisdom Thank you I will check them out
@@WorldWarWisdom Hey sorry for bothering you again but the Lusterless ww2 olive drab or the semi gloss olive drab? Rom Rapco
I have one question for you Which rank do you like medic leader or riflemen

1st STRIKE Bco 1/502nd Bulldogs
If your paint is runny, wipe off excess on anything that available.
Where did you get your airborne chinstrap?
On the one I have, it’s a swivel bell, and I want to change it to a leather airborne chinstrap
That looks gread
502nd
Hello, where you buy helmet net ?
At the front usually has them. Hell Amazon likely does too. Good luck.
Better off painting the area white. Letting it dry. Then putting the heart sticker on. Then painting the helmet green again. Let dry. Then take of sticker leaving a white heart.
Now ya know
You should buy a airbrush

You had a machine just to cut paper? They're called scissors.
