Very astute observation: The best Chameleon people love the chameleon, but are obsessed with the creation of a chameleon environment. This is not better or worse than someone who wants to have tactile interaction with their reptile. Simply a different mindset. And getting a reptile that is compatible with your mindset is key to a happy relationship for both of you.
I went to my local aquarium a couple of months back and they had a skeleton of a loggerhead turtle! I was just BLOWN AWAY by what their anatomy actually looks like underneath all that cuteness 😅 also in awe about the size of them 😍
@@WickensWickedReptiles yeah no problem I have been wanting to learn about reptiles and after I started following snake Discovery and Chandler's wildlife you're videos we're getting suggested to me so often I had watched like your last dozen or so videos before I was like well I may as well follow him too
If I stood by my chameleons tree in their dedicated room, that would come down and climb on my shoulder. Now this is Pardalis so they were usually more "curious"
@@Breviparopus They're definitely common enough that you see them at most expos but idk about 'immensely' popular, I rarely encounter people who actually keep them. Great little lizards though. Phelsuma in general are super underrated despite being common to come across.
Yesssss I'm finally on time lol. Hey Adam and Trish I hope you both had an amazing weekend. Another amazing vlog as always. Blue day geckos are gorgeous and all the other animals on this list is beautiful See you again on Thursday
I have a blue tailed skink, I think it could go on this list, he's small but when he gets older he'll have a beautiful blue tail, but he's too small/fast and jumpy to handle
LIke to see the emphasis on Phelsuma, I feel like they're weirdly underrated in the hobby despite being fairly common. Beautiful, active and very personable on average, even if not handleable. I don't get mine out but he very readily eats from my hand and is really bold, attentive and curious. Great display animals but still great pets too, tbh, can be very interactive, just not necessarily in the 'get them out and hold them' sense.
Im one of those with a socialised Amazon tree boa, it sure takes a bit of work and I can definitely see why they wouldn't be for everyone. I wouldn't be able to have turtles either, i have one animal that requires 100litres of water maintenance and that's plenty 😂 Great video Adam. :)
You know what reptile looks beautiful, is smart like a puppy, can take for walks and is a great as display animal as well ....savannah monitors...im mean what more could u ever want lol
Yeah but my dog doesn’t have an enclosure i have to clean regularly, she poops outside, and if her water bowl is empty or if she’s hungry she lets me know instead of just dying… also provides top notch home security and retrieves birds when i go hunting
My panther chameleon always wants to be held, imo it's all on the owner, yes plz wash hands after handling any animals.. after handling my uromastyx, i always wash my hands ..
Trioceros Jacksonii Xantholophus are cool, but that night time drop is crucial and can be a challenge to do right. Furcifer Lateralis on the other hand, are beautiful, can be kept in a smaller enclosure, dont need that night time drop and a hybrid encloser is suitable for them and will be easier to regulate the humidity.
At least you can see them. I never see my BCI, he is always in his hides despite the fact he has room, plants, branches, UVB etc... i drop a rat at the entrance of a hide, the water level drops a bit and he goes to the bathroom regularly and that's it.
I messed up when I was younger. Bought a Jackson’s chameleon from the local pet store. Bought a cool vertical mesh enclosure hooked it up but I couldn’t get the humidity etc etc right in my apartment. I killed that poor little dude because I didn’t know what I was doing.
Great stuff, I'm in between I see both sides of handling or not, id not for say a venomous like a temple viper or something I just enjoy to look at but most id want to handle some. Should do a some handling is ok just not too much top 5.
I have mourning geckos, i absolutely love them. I also love giant Madagascarn day geckos but don't have them because I would rather get a more handle able gecko first like a bawangling cave gecko or tokay gecko. Snake wise I would love tentacled snakes but don't know where to buy them
I have daygecko's and am waiting for 3 more species incoming, incluiding the electric blue ones. I love working with my day gecko's. They have come now to the part where they know I am the one that will provide food, they will come forward to me and they will eat from my hand. If you have enough patience, they will also crawl on your hand but indeed, they are not animals you should be touching. They will drop their tail when you just sneeze. (figure of speech)
That is why I have Rankin's dragons, because I want animals you can touch and handle. :) These are beautiful animals though. Apart from that I have pond sliders, a red eared slider female I have for 30 years now, and a male cross between a red ear and a yellow belly. They are indeed not very handleable or touchy. Some do like it if you scratch their shell though. But I will not get any new turtles if these die (but that can take a while :) ). They can be nice to watch as they are active in the water.
That giant chameleon is super cool but if i was going to get something a bit bitey just to look at itd be the Amazon Basin emerald tree boa. At least I've been told they're bitey.
I had a camileon furcifer pardalis the most cheerful creature I’ve seen always when I come across he would look at me waiting to open the door of the terrary and climb out to stay whith me and he loved to take hot baths and being scrach in the lower part of the chin (I know that because of the clear coloration it had when I did those things) he died 2 years ago from a misterious bleeding from the poop at 6 years old
Had a Day Gecko get out and live in some wood hanging acoustic wall treatments So , I put a light can and a wire ring for a feed cup Even sprayed him daily Until I finally caught him And yes His tail popped off
@WickensWickedReptiles With the room remodel we're doing, we just added two new paladarium enclosures that I plan to use for vampire crabs (in one - probably giant reds or halloweens) and green tree skinks (in the others). I've also got a vetically converted 10-gallon I'm looking to add a glass frog into. Unless I get another species of dart frog.

I honestly don’t get look don’t touch animals. Like my turtles are chill with being held so they’re out of their enclosures frequently, not being able to hold my pet is kinda sad
I have a Standing's Day Gecko female. She'll be 19 years old next month. She won't let me near her and I have to sort of sneak into the room to feed her so as not to scare her. I co- hab her with a Wahlberg's Velvet Gecko who will let me handle her. Ahh well,go figure.

I am surprised venomous snakes did not make the #1 spot! 😂🤣 Chameleons, turtles, and 2 gecko species do make sense, though. 🐢

Why are electric blue day geckos the way that they are?
They are so specific in the wild but they are easy to keep in captivity.
